Keep that up for a year and include allowances and you have NETTED 100K on 50hrs a month avg. (600 for the year). With free accommodation, medical and a reasonable education allowance.

PS. AFAIK FOs at Regionals make upto $60K year 1 in the US. That is pretty much industry standard. Take out state and federal and your 401K contributions and you have $4K a month. Maybe even less (depends on the state). That’s Less than half of what an FO takes home here.
60,000 Dollars...really that has went up! I made 35000 as a Captain based in Jfk with American Eagle in the late 90s. I have flown with first officers here in Qatar, that have noooo life apparently, share accommodation etc, obviously no girlfriend, but say that were putting 100,000 savings in the bank every year. Im a captain and have to borrow money from my mom about the 23rd of every month to buy groceries( but hey Im married)

No type specific questions asked. Only EASA ATPL questions.

Fact? Maths? Well from ComutAir website, your figures of 115-120K are for Capts and not for FOs. FOs get upto 74K according to the site, these figures include a sign on bonus (usually a one time payment, that’s what “sign on” means) of 45k and 22K respectively. Also included in those numbers is 4K for “hotels, parking and uniform”

I think it’s safe to say QR doesn’t pay their pilots less than FOs at regionals in the US. Au contraire, quite the opposite.

QED.

Those number are for FO ... and yes you get upgraded CP probably within 6 months ... but you look happy in the sandpit! Enjoy killing 110h/m roster crossing +5 -8 timezones and getting worse with this QR interpretation of EASA rules, have fun spending tons of your saving just to keep up with the sky-rocketing and "uncontrolled" cost of living and have fun trying to understand the "not-available" culture! Probably because you do not have a better option. I am really sorry for you.

I have been working for many Airlines around the world and (luckily) I have never failed any assessment in Europe, Middle East or Asia. We do have options my friend.

Can you tell me where I can find this better option you are referring to?

The huge problem in aviation is that pilots ALWAYS complain about something. You don't get paid enough if you fly 50 hours and you fly too much if you do 90 hours.

Is working for Ryanair better?
Do you like waiting 15 years for your upgrade in Lufthansa?
Do you like working in China with your huge salary (if you don't get deductions for any silly reasons)?

I Don't know many airlines offering a good salary, paying for the accommodation, contributing to your pension fund, proving a $ 1.000.000 health insurance etc etc etc... Sure you work in exchange for that.

Is this place perfect? No, it's not but I am still waiting to find that perfection!

Do what I did. Get on a plane and go see for yourself. Meet as many pilots as you can, and weigh up the good and bad things. My interview is next week.

I flew with a bloke who complained about his time at Qatar, and wait for it.......”I didn’t like the heat, the accommodation, ex pats, long haul or the Arabs”

What do you honestly expect it to be like. He not once ventured out, used staff travel etc.

May I ask what position you are applying for?

Those that are happy here don’t waste much time on pprune publicising it. There are a lot here who are happy with either the job, the company, the country or all. In general those that are not happy tend to be negative people who wouldn’t know a good thing if it was handed to them on a plate and are not intelligent enough to simply resign and leave for that wonderful place where the grass is greener. Normally when anyone start to moan or complain to me, which is very rarely, I tell them very politely to hand their notice in and after 90 days f@ck off as I don’t want to spend anytime here listening to their crap. I have at this time no intentions of leaving and have around 15 years to go. Not sure if in time I will think differently. If I could get a DEC back in the UK at my home base earning 3/4 what I earn now, I’d probably take it, but that job does not exist, so crack on.

If you go for an interview with an electronic logbook, they not only want the last three pages in paper form for themselves, but they want the whole thing printed out, and they want every page stamped by your current and previous employers.

Yes every page. Remember to include all the landings in figures to.

Anything specific to study for the skype interview or is it just basic HR questions and them trying to asses your motivations for joining QA?

As always you want to make a good impression but the main purpose of the Skype interview is to conduct a very basic English assessment

Hello all, did my assesment for DEC airbus in July las year, been swimming in the holding pool ever since, today I received an email asking if I would be interested in a position with Amiri Flight, I couldn’t find anything recent on them, can anyone shed some light?
Is the pay the same? Are the benefits the same?
Does this mean I basically screwed up my assessment and I’m now being offered this as a consolation prize?

thanks in advance,

DV.
