Good day,

Quick question, I heard that if you join with a Frozen ATPL with less than 1500 total, you have to make an extra exam, and what kind of exam would this be? Do you only have to make an extra exam, or have to redo all your ATPL theory?

Hi, I am in the process of doing my initial online assessment exams. What is the status on the pool and joining dates for the FOs now? Airbus fleet.

The events were as described. I just had dinner with the hostie in question. Once again, a lovely girl. Had lots of good to say about Qatar. Grateful and humble. The Captain tried to get her to sign an incident report. She refused. There was no ground staff to assist or escort her. She had to call the hotel and get an Uber. No one knew where she was, least of all their fearless leader. Inexcusable and lack of leadership. I stand by my previous statements. I further reiterate, a lovely girl who is grateful and humble and a pleasure to meet.

Applied on Saturday and got the online test invitation 25 h later. Does the online test require much preparation if well familiar with aptitude tests such as DLR test?

No you don't fly both types and recruitment is according to experience and needs for each fleet. Large demand for pilots on all fleets but training capacity lacking on Boeing fleets, expect hold pool 12 months plus, Airbus not so long. Qatar want large numbers in hold pool as guys change their minds and circumstances. Some experienced FOs close to upgrade whom passed assessments remaining with current employers, good choice given how the industry changes. Recruitment requirement to be " currently flying" also snow balled some guys out.

The points for me personally (Boeing):
  • Less money
  • Longer time to command
  • Worse deal for schooling
  • Cost of living in Dubai
  • Time to command
  • Much, much worse rosters
  • Company culture

I'm not saying that everything is perfect in QR but at the moment I feel that there is a big difference in the packages that are in favor for QR.
However, if you're young and or single, Doha is not a very exciting place to live in, and this is an understatement. The blockade and the future of the sandpit is worrying...
Now that the market is OK in Europe, I would rather stay in Europe than goto EK.

Why is the future worrying? Are you flying for them?

From what I heard, Dubai is a lot better and more happening. Cost of living I'm not sure. Should be quite similar, but either ways you are flying most of the time. Oh yes.. not forgetting the blockade that happened recently... Maybe now is the time to try for Asian carriers?

Any idea how many time could my application stay “on hold”

I applied 2 weeks ago. Quite fast everything, I passed the Skype interview and was waiting for the invitation to Doha..
