I see you re from Italy, if living in one of the big cities served by qr, then I would say its doable for the bonding period. Having said that, you definitely will grow much older.
But forget the 7 on 5 off kind of deal. Its gonna be more something like 5 on 3 off - 4 on 1 off - 3 on 4 off -5 on 2 off and so on. If your only bidding is for the days off, then you might get lucky with a 5 or even 6 days off in a row in a month, but you cant count on it.

Luckyheader, the rosters come more in waves, one or two good rosters then a really bad one hits you over the head. It is definitely possible to live elsewhere in the gulf on a 777. The waiting period to move out of the comp acc is rather longer theses days, count anything between 6 months and a year.

As many have mentioned, all pilots are DOH based. If you want to see your family on a regular basis you should plan to bring them here. Hoping or wishing for that block of days off to go "home" will only lead to frustration. Don't build your family harmony on wishful thinking.

Hey folks, maybe some of you will help us about our questions in our heads,me and my husband.
My husband has recently applied for TR F/O (A320) at QR and we have almost read all forum entries, articles, experiences etc. and watched all youtube videos about QR and Doha. There are alot of informations but generally not up to date ones.
i will be very happy if someone helps me
*current salary (base-housing-etc--is there any convenience, which is provided by QR,about buying car? )
*accomodation (do we have to stay company accomodation? is it mandatory ? can we move another house in another district?)
*what is company accomodation like?
*in some videos women and men wear shorts but in some articles it is mentioned that we should cover knees and shoulders both.how we should wear?
*i think liquor permit is provided by companies . what about QR? (in an article i read QR dont provide liquor permit for cabin crew)
*what kind of a health insurance or health care system we have when we start working/living?
*can i bring some medicines for flu-reflux-birth control-etc with me in my luggage when we are moving?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Cars are priced similarly to Europe, if you're from Turkey, cars are generally 1/3 to 1/4 of the price of what you have to pay in Turkey

Thans for all. Couldn't find the options for PM.
I would like to know something that need to be attested like driver license and marriage certificate ect.
How long will it take till the final line check? Is it possible to get some day-offs?
And how about the exit permit for pilots now?
Appreciated for any point of view.

For wives the biggest issue is boredom after a while, many newcomers thought they could commute, this is not what the company is looking towards and be prepared to "live" in the area. Wives can enter and exit without restrictions as often as they like, some choose to live back in Europe..but be prepared to add cash to get a reasonable place to live if you don't like what the company provided.
