Hi
I digress a little from the original thread but cannot find any information through the search tab. I'm considering a job offer from Qatar and wasn't clear on one aspect. How do they support a pilot and his/her family's move to the country? I heard they give a complimentary 150kg allowance on their aircraft or offer a lump sum to make your own arrangements. If true, does anybody know what this lump payment offer is (or if it even exists)?
Frankly speaking for me with wife and a couple of kids 150kg won't get us very far at all!
Thanks in advance

According to their roadshow:
150kg self 150kg wife 50kg per child on QR cargo.
50% of above if on another airline but must be airline cargo and not DHL, FEDEX etc normal freight forwarding (which is not accepted)
When quitting, you get 50kgs more per person I think on the way back.

Thanks APU,
Anybody have any idea of the current housing situation. What are they offering FO's at the moment? I asked during interview and was told it would be an apartment but not much more info than that in terms of location, size etc.
Any info appreciated

Hi All,
Just a couple of random questions: Can anyone tell me if company provided accommodation in Porto Arabia, The Pearl, comes furnished? If not, is there a furniture allowance? What sort of furniture allowance does QA offer?
Thanks.

Just one more:
I heard QA protects a certain percentage of your income from currency fluctuations. Can anyone comment and/or provide more info about pay and conditions?
Thanks.

Hold File
Hi All,
First post on pprune. Recently went to doha for interview and was put on the hold file few days later. Guy flying 767 got a decemeber joining date.. I am on the NG. Are they favoring 767 guys?
Anyone recently been put on the hold file? The HR guy said they need 600 pilots, but looks like they have been saying that for couple years when you read through here!

Hi All,
I've been accepted for a 777 slot starting later this year, if anyone has some info for me it'd be great to get some feed back.
I've had a good look at some of the FO rosters and they look quite intense, certainly a lot more than what I previously flew in long haul. Are they as hard as they look? Does it get any better as a captain? (I believe the rostered P1 logs the whole flight?)
I'm quite young still at 35 and my sums show I need to do at least 15 years before I can contemplate retiring. How many guys make it that far? Anecdotally it seems most seem to reach their fill after 8-10 years

If I recall correctly, they don't give you a starting day according to time entering the pool,
You get a start date depending on your previous experience and how well you did on the interview. It's not only a pass/no pass, you get graded by the assessors hence why some people get a date shortly after the interview and some have to wait for a year.
