8028410q:To be more precise:
School fees are cover by Qatar Airways UP TO a MAXIMUM of 50.000QR per annum per family regardless of the number of childrens...
Sounds like big amount of money , but 50.000 QR will probably barely cover 2 kids/year here..school are very expensive !The rest you will have to take it from your pocket...

QR. Moving to Doha tips please
Hi guys, I used the “search” a lot, but can’t find all I need. Thank you for the answers.
1-Should I pack as much as I can or the houses are really “fully furniture”? Anything you guys think I better import than getting it there?
2-How you buy your car when you get there broke, with no savings? Will the banks give you credit on the spot since you are employed by Qatar Airways? It is the transportation allowance enough or you have to put money on top of that to drive a new car?
3-Do you go to the company accommodations as soon as you arrive or first the put you in a Hotel? How soon you usually star training after your arrival date?
Thank you!!!!!!

Like taking any job with any carrier here in the Gulf, it's wise to arrive suitcase in hand and concentrate on completing training and such from what I understand QR like most others provides suitable accomodation and transport facilities until you are situated..once having completed training and are familiar with your new surroundings only then is it adviseable to bring personal items, families etc....etc...good luck!!

-Don't try to get everything at the beginning, you will be busy with your course,training..and last but not least paper work!Make it easy:
IMHO:Try to rent a car initially for 1 month 2 months..whatever(plenty of companies, you will need it for SURE..unfortunatly here...public transport is not well developped, and you might wait for long time for taxi depending of the area and the time of the day...Make sure the insurance is valid and build up some experience into the selfish Chaotic way of drive here in Doha.!I can only recommanded you one think:Be Very carefull!!A lot of Idiots here on the street who don't respect anything!
Buy a car once you finished everything,course,training...
-loan is available at the bank to buy a car(hope it's still the case, haven't buy a car for long now here)
-Accomodations are furnished.(yes most of the time they put you straight into the accomodation..)
-transport allowance is enough to fill up your car, gaz is very cheap here: 0.2 U$/liter.

welcome, hope you know what your getting into, but sounds like you don't have work so this is a good option for you.
well, loc22550 has some good advise that you should follow as my advise would be nearly the same.
Bring what you need, a couple of large bags, Hire a car for the first while ( cost is the same or in some cases less than buying a new car).
company accommodation is fully furnished, bring very little.. remember one thing, seems by your name you are coming from the USA.. the power is DIFFERENT here.. DO NOT bring electrical things as they may not work without a currency transformer.. ( you can buy anything you need here anyway)
the banks are pretty good with us, used to be allot better but the current crisis has the banks a bit scared.. should not pose a large problem.. the least of your worries anyway.
Transport allowence... not nearly close to enough.. maybe covers 10% of your needs.
yes straight to company digs.. you might just start training the day after you arrive.. and some times a couple days later.. depends on the availability of courses and others joining at the time.. it's just luck of the draw on that one.

Thank you for the info!!!!!!!Specially Capt Krunch , loc22550 and ironbutt.
Krunch, are you saying that 1500QR a month are 10% of a car payment? I guess and hope that you are wrong on that one, shed light on that if you have time please.
I guess that I will get just my clothes and my bicycle with me, and wait to ship the otter stuf.
One more question. Do they do the traveling arrangements from wherever you are in the world or just from a QR network?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!

well, my car is nothing out of the ordinary and I pay in the area of 3000+QR per month as well as nearly the same amount in Insurance, petro is cheap but I seem to use an awful lot of it, takes about 80QR to 100QR every time i visit the station which would be at least 6 times per month.
so in the end I guess the allowence is something OK ( the 10% was an exzageration of course) but it does not cover what it really cost to get around.. at least it's something so I'll not complain.
but please.. DON'T bring a bicycle out here.. you will get killed.. really i'm not joking about that.

Qatar has the same electrical power system as in the UK so it should be fine I would assume. i'm no expert of course but like others here, I spend more money that you would ever think on blown light bulbs due to faulty wiring.

Wapses,
In case you haven't noticed, the airlines are in crisis worldwide. Sure, you don't like it at QR but give someone else a chance to form an opinion before you make such a sweeping statement. Plus, you don't know his/her situation - it could be far worse than what you can find at QR.
QR probably isn't the best employer based on what we read here but it probably isn't the worst either. You can get some valuable experience (job and life experience) while the industry corrects itself elsewhere. If you are previously a Boeing driver and you get placed in the 777 at QR, you might end up getting some great experience that could be valued elsewhere down the line... You never know.
