Hi Wango z ....
It's not me saying it's the best airline in the world....it's skytrax that says it!..however, have you ever worked for banana airlines where you have a slave type treatment...and you not even deserve an e-mail when they shut the doors?....crew rest?....off days....underpaied?....I dont know if you do or have worked for a good major..if you do or did you are a lucky guy...so for my point of view it is an enormous opportunity and for the little I saw it's far better than what I had since now..except for the Air Force glory....I get quite a few ups on tripple seven jobs around the world...who cares to work in the decadent europe ..long range is another story...for me much better than bouncing up and down four times a day...

You might end up in the 787 in a few years...

all119,

I have been told that in the future, 787 pilots will likely be sourced from the A320 fleet (obviously subject to change on a whim). So, even though you may get assigned the A320 initially, you could end up in a 787 a few years down the line... Stay positive, smile a lot, don't stray from expectations and kiss some a$$ and it just might happen!

I've heard eventual A380 and A350 seats will be sourced from the A330/340. I guess the 777 pilots are expected to stay in their fleet - who knows???

Moderator, thread drift?

At the risk of seeming like an old grouch, this thread has descended into a stream of exchanges about the wait for news from QR ( there is another thread on this subject anyway!)
"have you heard yet?" " no, have you?" "when did you go?" "after/before you!"
"isn't the waiting awful!" etc etc!
I asked what I thought was a reasonable question about joining QR and was told to read the preceding 225 pages of above exchanges!
Unfortunately (or fortunately?!) I have better things to do!
I sympathise and appreciate the wish to share these difficult times, but.....

Is it time to redirect these personal exchanges to another thread?

Hello bond737, I´m a little worry about not having the MCC, a friend of mine that flies 777 for QR told me that MCC course is required before flying for an airline, I don´t know exactly how it works, could you tell me your experience with that issue, I probably did that course with another name when I was in the simulator for my initial in the 320, currently I´m an Airbus 319 F/O in Latin America, with 1400 hrs in type and total 2200 hrs, thanks a lot

MCC is MCC and it is not required for other than JAA licenses, to fly JAR25 A/C, in the JAR regulation you can be exempt from MCC if you have more than 500hrs on JAR25 A/C, which I did to convert my FAA ATPL to my UK JAA ATPL. Now, as far as QR they need this unless you hold a valid full ATPL. They should apply the 500hrs as well but unless you bring that subject to the QCAA you will never know.

For the non European pilots applying and asking about the MCC (Multi Crew Cooperation) certificate.

It's pretty simple.

For European operators operating multi-pilot aircraft (part 25 aircraft) you have to have either an ATPL or a CPL ME IR with all ATPL exams passed AND an MCC certificate. It does not matter how many hours you have on multi-pilot aircraft. The MCC certificate is a pre-requisite for employment. Whats the reason? In order to be issued a JAA/EASA ATPL you have to present a valid MCC certificate. That's why once you have an ATPL you no longer have to present it to an employer. It's already been presented to the licensing authority.

Now, Qatar and the GCC in general follow the European licensing system very closely; reason, many were previously British territories and they inherited their aviation regulations from the British and have continued to follow very closely after this and through the JAR and now EASA changeover.

So unless you have an ATPL an MCC certificate is required (because that's the way they roll as regards licensing and operating on a part 25 aircraft).

You could talk to the QCAA about it, but that's the same as going to any Aviation Authority within Europe and telling them they are wrong.

They aren't. You need an MCC certificate. They're not that expensive so go grab one at your nearest approved MCC training provider.

Good luck and may we all find paradise, health and wealth in the desert.

Thank you guys, they never mentioned during the interview, they were ok with me being current and having more than 1000 hrs in the type, I guess I just have to wait a little longer to find out if I'm qualified for them, meanwhile, I'll keep having fun in my little bus across South America and Caribean, looking forward to hear the good news soon and get to know that part of the world, thanks a lot again, cheers.

Well what about the 60 orders on the A-320 Neos they showed us on the presentation ?
Some of them yes could be transfered to the 787.

Thanks Potatowings,

That clears something up, I held back on my fast track SO application because of the MCC. I'm a British citizen on an FAA ATPL, currently flying in West Africa and was a little uncomfortable flying back to Europe to do an MCC just for an application, well especially during these hard times.

No problem I will go ahead with the application this weekend....

Cheers

Does this MCC issue may block a candidate to have the results of his interview at QR?
I hope that they at least tell you if you succeed first then ask you to go spend your money for an MCC…

AviatorJack

I was in a similar position to you a few years back, you might be able to get an MCC Exemption letter from the UK CAA in your circumstances (FAA ATP Multi-Crew Environment), I got one when I applied for my JAA ATPL. You would need a CAA Ref No at least probably.

@RK303
They asked to see my MCC and ATPL written subject results, and then a month later I was invited for a interview.
