Hi folks,

for those in DOH i have a question about the medical.

I have held a class 1 all my life, and only in the last 2 years (since being in JP) have i been informed that i have an irregular heartbeat.

With that in mind, they still give me a class 1 every time, and they tell me to not worry about it - but their little machine says IRREGULAR RHYTHM.

The doc says that every half a dozen beats or so i get an extra small beat.

Does anyone have any info about the medical in DOH?

Thanks

Red

That's normally connected to considerable intake of coffein.
No coffee no coke two weeks before medical should do it.

I posted the links for us Americans who are not familiar with the questions in the JAA question bank. Although a lot of questions, I've been focusing my studies on performance and meteorology. I have other gouges, but I can't count on getting the same question when I have my interview. Is it overkill? Maybe, but at least I know I'll be fully prepare for anything they throw at me.

Oh man I know what you are going through ! Me also, every morning I wake up, I hope that I`ll get an E-mail with an Interview date. It has been now almost a month since I got a first reply asking me to upload some documents. Holding thumbs, the waiting is killing though !

Hi guys! We know itīs really a hard time that sometimes we must pass trhough but remember... the patience is the key of successful assessment!
Try to control the anxiety. The HR guys are working hard to comply the schedule but unfortunately sometime they donīt.
Usually they give 4 weeks to send some new information, after that, if you donīt receive none email, just call them.
There are so many guys applying at the same time.
Anyway, Good luck for you!
Cheers!

So is it a general consensus that the bad news travels faster than good? A week or so to get the bad news?

yes, I know some people that got the bad news after one week or so.

So I believe that the answer is bad news is quicker'
good news is longer.

Its been 4 weeks for me and still no email so I take that it is good news coming.

Also its Ramadan now so they only work half days I believe so it may stretch out a tad longer unfortunately.

good luck all.

Dogs - apart from the 45-50 degree heat for 9 months of the year, if you can, leave them in Spain (or wherever you are coming from I would) with someone it would certainly be easier on them.

If you do decide to bring them over, do it in the winter months, its not uncommon for the ground handlers to leave dogs outside the aircraft whilst they sort the baggage and in this searing heat dogs like yours wouldn't last long!

Dog's aren't welcome here, you'll have to go out - away from anyone to walk them, often into the desert. They will spend their lives in air-conditioning and if you end up in Holiday Villas, your not allowed any pets anyway.

Hey all,

I have a few questions. I am new to the site but before I posted I read all 172 pages. I have finished the application 2 weeks ago and am waiting for a call for an interview. I have 5000TT and 4000 turbojet and fly in the USA.

1. I looked for info on the health care but it is tough to find anything out. My wife and I have a 1 year old and would like to have another. Is it possible to have a baby over there or does the health care not deal with maternity? (just trying to plan the future a bit)

2. Can you purchase a seperate health care plan just for this?

I appreciate any answers (actually my wife will) and hopefully will see you there soon.

hi all,

Is it a given that new hires go straight on the 320, or do some get lucky with 330,T7 etc.?

Can anyone clarify the HOURS on the application form.

For First officer time, do I put the PICUS(Pilot flying) time as PIC or does it all go down as Copilot?

I got the T7... Maybe i m lucky... But lets wait.. I understood they can change your fleet when u arrive in Doha.
I know that they need pilots mainly on Airbus fleet. But this is what i read here or what my friends told me.

PICUS is only when you fly as Captain. For first officer use the P2...

health insurance

I remember at the interview, they mentioned about Maternity not being covered. It was also pointed out that you could buy your own insurance and since you will be a resident of qatar(because you work there), you will have access to the state run Hospital for cheap. I must say that the hospital are top notch, modern with western doctors on most of them

2. Can you purchase a seperate health care plan just for this?

Yes. Do noy know exactly how much it will cost.

I have a friend (not an airman) who is telling me about those stuff
I will be in training in Doha in the near future (hopefully) and will let u know more then. Unles someone living there could explain more...
