... and other information that might come-out at the interview

Qatar Airways and US Airways in May will begin sharing codes

United Airlines and Qatar Airways plan to share codes

Qatar Airways appointed Dudley Snyder as senior vice president of the Americas

Daily flights to the eastern Indian city of Kolkata will be launched on July 27, taking Qatar Airways´ capacity in India to 95 services a week spread across 12 cities.

In Europe, the airline is to launch four-flights-a-week to the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, from September 14. While five-flights-a week to Oslo, Norway, commence October 5.

On June 5, the airline will commence flights from Doha to the Iranian city of Shiraz, followed by daily flights to Venice on June 15, the airline´s third destination in Italy. On June 29, Qatar Airways will make its first entry into Canada with thrice-weekly flights to Montreal.

Interview coming up

Sorry to branch off the topic guys, but I'm looking for a little help. I have an interview with QR at the end of the month and was wondering if anyone that's been screened RECENTLY could give a run down on what to expect.

Would appreciate examples of the type of questions asked in the technical quiz as well as the style/format of the interview and guidance on which areas to research for it.

Thanks!

Buns.. if it can console you,you are not the only one suffering from the roster unfairness..right on the spot regarding days off request ending up in STBY duty....another slap in the hard working crew's face..especially when it happens before leave.
-roster:"Sorry sir..not allowed to bid for days off before leave.."
-Pilot:"really...how comes some people end up with 3.. 4 days off before leave without asking anything..."
-roster:"eeuuhh..."

Whaaat to do..

I think for the Aviation Authority out there you need to have a BMI less than 30 and to live there (for your resident status) you need a BMI less than 35

It's not set by the airline, it's for the guys who issue your medical!
Could be wrong though, just what I was told when I was out that way!

Interview

Hey,

I am coming up to Qatar for an interview next month. I understand the tech questions for the interview have been changed. Can anyone please give me a heads up on the current questions being asked and any other tips would be kindly appreciated.
Thank you

Have Qatar suddenly picked up pace with interviews? Anybody know how many they're doing a month and what the average pass rate is?

Cap N.

1st - On rosters A320, nothing you can do about it, alot has been written about it.
2nd - On trainers and training a lot has also been written about it, on the other hand if you are prepared for your session, you wont have any problems. Don't show attitude towards the instructor, if anything out of line happens, calm down and take it easy. If he is wrong give him a refference and show him you know.

3rd - If you don't know where to find the right information, you'll have a hard time here. You don't need to memorize everything, but go through the books, all of them and familiarize yourself with them.

The most worrying about the above is, they can quote references all day long, but come to fly the aeroplane and it leaves a lot to be desired. Flying a constant descent approach in this airline gets their sphincters going! I kid you not.

autothrottle / autopilot off approaches

I agree too at least B777 FM is trying to correct that one re the autothrust and autopilot off on approach to keep our boeing skills alive for when we escape to pastures new :-)

and again the number of captains who want you level at najma at 2000' when i'm quite happy to intercept the glide at 6.1 with a CDA approach, you can hear there brains rattling !!!

oh and qatar sucks if you've got under four year olds as you get naff all help with pre-school / nursery / kindergarten which can cost at least the same if not more than regular school, oh and woe betide you if you want to take your toddlers home for a week during term time, you forfeit your place and fee with no refund so they can rob some other poor unsuspecting family :-( rant over.

Hello, I've been invited to the selection process and I was wondering if it would be possible to come with my "future wife" (so girl friend at present) in Doha?
I checked on internet and apparently you may be asked a marriage certificate at the hotel!
So, unlike Dubai, is it definitely a "NO GO" in Doha?

FFR...Lets be honest:
For some families Qatar is brilliant but for some others it isn´t..
EACH case is different!
How many pilots travel home as soon as they have 2..3..4 days off to see their family at home, some of them even resign because of family issue.
Some of them have tried to bring them here..not for long...
It is very hazardous to generalize an issue like that.
