Who was dumping fuel tonight on 128.25?

Wasn't working but I find the question a strange one as we have aircraft dumping fuel almost on a daily basis, so nothing unusual. Usually it's a yank tanker offloading a bit of fuel before landing and usually is done out of the way of our traffic. As I said very common in this part of the world.

The controller told aircraft on frequency to please standby, "he has an aircraft dumping fuel".
We didn't think it was was a good idea to overcome curiosity and ask, who, what, why, and so we left it alone, and wondered all the way home.....

It would be unusual for the controller to tell all aircraft to standby (unless he is dealing with other agencies regarding the dump) as we will typically only stop transmitting to the dumping aircraft until they are complete, some of the military assets will even turn RF equipment off so you can't talk to them.
As ANSA said, very common here in the UAE FIR, it would surprise some people to know how much our US friends do throw overboard on a daily basis. Add that to the fact that the level of tanker traffic etc. has hardly abated since the Afghan and Iraq campaigns started. Its no wonder they are starting to experiment with synthetic fuels!

Aircraft doing C of A renewal test flights, do jettison a small amount of fuel to test the system. Unlilkely one of them, though; because they do that during daylight only

just stumbled across this thread but Ray you're absolutely dead wrong about THE word as there is another one that is very important with regard to request made bij pilots and that is Enshallah.
Further more ALL stations standby, does not include the party on his cell phone please let me be very clear about this as it might lead to miscommunication and potential dangerous situations. The cell phone has and always will have priority in the KSA FIR

hey Ray_Darr, you are also ommiting that the second most used word especially in India and to the east is: CHECK YOUR RADIO, I READ YOU 1 BY 1. Amazingly this happens almost every day and with almost all of the foreign carriers. Perhaps there's another bermuda triangle in the indian subcontinent that protrudes with the radio transmitions.
