Para-umbilical hernia problems

Hello,

I recently had a para-umbilical hernia repaired.

The wound is now discharging a watery, blood-stained fluid, at the rate of approx. 2 tablespoons per day. This discharge is odourless.

Is this something to be worried about?

The nurses at my GP's say it simply needs dressing daily.

Thanks

You've probably got a little wound seroma (collection of tissue fluid). Not uncommon. It coming out is nature's way of resolving the problem. Usually clears up after a week or two.

Agree with nurses:D

Thanks Mac,

Does appear to be slowly drying up.

Thankfully there is no inflamation of the wound as I am hoping to be back on my feet as soon as possible.

Cheers

PFO
