Class 2 after Liposuction
 

Hi. I'm due to renew my class 2 medical certificate and complete my biannual check ride soon.

I am going to undertake a surgical procedure (lipo) 5 weeks before my medical & ppl expires. Medical instructions are to keep compression garments on for 6-8 weeks.

Should this hinder in anyway my class 2 medical / fitness to fly?

Liposuction can mean anything, but may be a very prolonged operation with significant risk of potential problems. Your surgeon and anaesthetist will advise you. However you will have to declare the operation and the CAA will in turn advise how long you will not be able to fly. I suspect they will not be happy with you flying in compression garments as they may impede your ability to operate or reach the controls, and can effect your breathing.
