Class 3 Vision Standard - Monocularity
Hi all,
I have recently been offered a position with Airservices Australia to commence ATC training. I have been flying for 2 years and have held a Class 1 medical certificate from CASA, but I have poor vision in one eye and am classified as functionally monocular. In Australia a waiver is available for people with functional monocularity to gain a Class 1 or 2 medical, but not a class 3, as required for ATC. My case is currently under review by CASA and I may still be granted Class 3 certification depending on the review. I have 2 questions, if anyone is able to help. 1. Does anybody know of any similar cases in Australia, that have been approved/rejected for Class 3? 2. Can anybody give me some information about the requirements in other countries, eg. is someone with functional monocularity eligible for class 3 in Europe, the UK or US? much thanks in advance, Benny86 |
