Shivers

Hi,

Ever suddenly go the shivers(fairly severe) for no apparent reason? Ok next morning then shivers again next night? When you go to bed you feel so cold but your head is burning up?

If so, any idea what this is?

Cheers

Always a little difficult to give a full diagnosis without a full history, and examination, but it's likely that the toxins from a non specific antigen are affecting, and confusing, the heat regulating centre within the hypothalmus, causing the musculature to move involuntary, thus provoking heat generation.

It sounds like you may have a cold.:) Get well soon.

Gingernut, your replies are always great!

Yes, I got caught in a heavy downpour on Monday and this started Tuesday at 21.00. Felt a bit better yesterday but it started again last night. Went to bed at eight, was drenched by this morning. No longer have a hot head (so to speak) but slight headache and feel like I want to vomit.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers

No problem, if it does turn out to be malaria, sue Danny, it's his website

(Only kidding, but always in the back of our mind when dealling with travellers):)

Just beat me to it gingernut...

If you get the nasty kind of malaria you can be dead within hours (and it'll never occur to most GPs, trauma officers etc.).

Ho hum...
