Evening,

currently got my PPL. Plan to do ATPL Theory, CPL + I.R

However, my Class 2 medical is due for renewed in the spring of 07. I am about to start distance learning for the ATPL theory but should I get a class 1 before hand or jst wait until class 2 is up for renewal then upgrade?

Even if I failed class 1 standards which I doubt will (not being modest - don't think/know of any problems I have which would fail me) I would plan to do ATPL theory to keep the mind ticking over/busy.

Any thoughts on this? - Either way I'd need to pay for a class 1, just wondered when to get it

No harm in getting the class 1 initial done early. It states on the form that it is valid for class 2 privileges and validity periods.
That just means doing a renewal rather than a revalidation, as the class 1 bit will have expired by the time of your subsequent medical.
