Dvt
Hello all,
As a future airline pilot my mother,a nurse, has a worry as most mothers do: What percentage of pilots get DVT flying that often? so kind of any replies |
Even if only remaining in the cockpit, most pilots on long sectors get out of their seats periodically, even if only to stretch their legs. My bladder certainly dictates this as not just a good idea, but a necessity.
Tell your mother not to worry (unless you're travelling a long way in economy class in an immovable position). Regards, Old Smokey |
DVT Socks?
Any medical views on the theoretical benefits of these Flight Socks? I fly long-haul, and wear them. I must say they feel very comfortable, if a pain to get on and off. But do they work?

Like you I also wear the socks and find them very good. The thing that I have noticed is that when putting my shoes on again at the end of the flight after wearing them I can do my laces up the same as before the flight.Without them I could see how much my feet had "grown" due to blood pooling by the difference. |
The evidence for these appears to be equivocal. They probably won't do any good, but they also won't do any harm.
