Flysure ripoff.
 

Having been a fairly faithful user of Flysure Airline Personnel travel insurance I got a shock this year. They wanted an additional 130% to replace my coverage! That takes it from a very reasonable £35 to an expensive £80. Apart from a couple of minor and common procedures, my previous medical history hasn't changed for a decade but regardless of what the CAA Medical Division think, Flysure know better!

The problem seem to be the medical declaration hotline has changed to a company called 'Medical Screening' who slap on their own charge over and above the cost of the standard policy. The hotline is manned by people without a jot of medical training who don't understand, can't spell or accurately record simple medical problems. They rename things to suit their database and have no real idea of the severity or otherwise of a condition.

They have charged my hugely fit 17 year old son an additional 25% for having a tiny benign cyst removed under local from his skin. What a rip off (or perhaps rip out)?

So does anyone know a good replacement for Flysure travel insurance?

It's a shame to hear that Flysure has started doing things like this.

I used Flysure annual travel insurance for more than 26 years and always found them to be fair, helpful, good value and reasonable when it came to paying claims.

I only stopped renewing with them this year when I discovered that I am covered (along with my sons) by travel insurance through my Lloyds bank account. I have a Lloyds TSB Premier account and it also includes top level AA cover and mobile phone insurance along with a few other things which I don't really use.

I checked with them what the level of cover for the travel insurance is and it seems to be just as good as Flysure. Thankfully I haven't had to make a claim so I can't tell you how good they are at that.

Likewise I quit Flysure. It WAS good.
