Minor Eye Problem

My right eye has been irritating me all day and this evening, on taking out my contacts, I noticed a small spot on the edge of the eye lid. It looks like a white head and having perused the net a bit I believe it is a Stye. Anyone know how long this will last, any adverse affects and if I should wear my contacts while I still have it?

Many thanks in advance.

Rupert

....assuming that you don't want to visit a doctor:

There is an old wives treatment that used to work for me, simply rub the sty with a gold ring for a few minutes.

It doesn't sound like a sty - I had one or two when I was a kid and they are like small boils - red, sore and 'orrible. It sounds like you have something I often get - a tiny white spot that really irritates. I've never done anything other than lob in a drop of Optrex, or something similar. I bet it goes as quickly as it arrived..

Yes it has now gone so it probably was not a stye. Actually, lately I've been getting a lot of mouth ulcers to go along with this. I gave my GP a call and he reckons it may be stress related. It does seem slightly strange at my age but I suppose it has been a busy few months.

Have had them on and off for 20 years or so.
Always seem to turn up when stressed or overtired.

However, a dab of Brolene eye ointment (prescription free pharmacy item) at bedtime always sees them off.

Beware the contact lenses though as they can irritate them into outstaying their welcome.

If your glasses are crap - "...should have gone to Specsavers... !!"
