How Disabled ?
 

Dear experts,

Following ejection injuries my bang seat flying days are over.

Company has a very good policy to help smooth things over from a loss of licence point of view, it also covers personal injury.

But a part of the process is getting an agreement on how disabled I am as a percentage.

Any ideas how this is achieved? Have looked on the web, but using the California scale I could see answers anywhere between 0% and 100%.

How is it normally done in the UK?

No idea, but you could try contacting Aviation for Paraplegics and Tetraplegics or the British Disabled Flying Association (formerly BDFC) both of whom are very knowledgeable in such issues and can almost certainly point you at chapter and verse.

Sorry to hear about the loss of medical - hope you're managing to continue something interesting in the aviation line. If you find yourself back in the UK and want to talk about test flying non-aerobatic sports aeroplanes, give me a shout. (No money in it, but a good alternative to real work.)
