Diverticulitis

Mrs Synth has been diagnosed with this and has been in pain for some time. Our wonderful NHS (for whom she works) has said they will see her in about three months:mad:. Meanwile, since I do most of the cooking in the Synth household, please could anyone advise me on what we should and hould not eat?

My late father suffered from this some time ago (40 yrs I think) - he only found out when he started haemorrhaging:uhoh:
He was told he needed an operation that would require something like a month's recuperation - he was self-employed so asked for an alternative... he had to go on a low fibre diet, ISTR, or foods that contained easily soluble fibre, for a while, and then increased his fibre intake as things settled down. Stuff like nuts, seeds and fruit skin were out to start with. I don't recall any further problems, but finding out about it caused a scare.... he never had the operation

Sitting on a lousy flight deck chair gave me diverticulitis as well.
A low fibre consumtion did not help either.
I started eating bread with a lot of fibre, skipped the white toast and cut back on hge booze. It worked wonders!
