Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) FAA requirements

Does anyone know the FAA steps for medical certification following a TGA event?

The Guide for Aviation Medical Examiners indicates that it requires FAA decision and I have heard a 6 month period of observation must pass before the FAA will consider the issuance of a medical clearance.

I'm aware the late Dr John (Jack) Hastings did a lot of work in this area with the FAA but I have not been able to locate any papers around this issue.

Any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
