CAA - Long delays

Anyone else being frustrated by unacceptably long delays at CAA medical at the moment?

My class 1 referral was sent them them on 16th March and they STILL haven't allocated it to an assessor!

Does anyone have an email address for someone senior in the medical department? The only one on the website is apparently for AMEs to submit documentation, so nothing I send there gets a reply.

The whole process of getting my initial Class 1 is causing me so much stress it's unreal, I'm at my wits end with all the waiting...

Thanks!

Actually, since I wrote that post things have gotten a bit better.

Looks like their useless new system had caused a load of issues for my AME submitting all the data. Sounds like they'd had it for a month, but hadn't done anything with it because "computer says no".

I've now spoken to an assessor who's reviewed my case, but I need to make an appointment to see one of their specialists. Unfortunately, and quite predictably, now their appointment booking system is U/S!

CAA incompetence

Anyone else trying to get an appointment with a CAA specialist at the moment?

Their system is STILL broken and they apparently can't book anyone in for anything! This has been going on for weeks!

I just don't understand how their solution to their broken computer system is just to not allow anyone to book anything! Has it not occured to them that maybe they need to just get a calendar for each doctor and write the appointment dates on it with a pencil?!

The answer would be "Wossa calendar..and pencil..?" This is the 21st Century.....

It's something that works when the fancy stuff goes wrong!

I guess it's similar to the way that so many pilots learn to fly exclusively using GPS, then have no idea what to do when it breaks!

The CAA always encourage pilots to have a Plan B!

Is this a case of "Do as I say, not do as I do"?

I'm in the same boat, my AME submitted all of my new medical information on 01/03/21 and absolutely nothing has happened. I tried to call but didn't get anywhere and my AME seems to be unable to chase the case. It's really, really poor. I can't even get a timescale for someone to look at it. At least you managed to speak to somebody!

They've been helpful over the phone and seem to have done their best, but their new system is absolutely ridiculous!

They phoned me the other day to offer me an appointment, but I HAVE to accept it from Cellma which I can no longer log into! (It worked fine for about a week, but now rejects my username and password!)
