alpha blockers and BPH
I know that alpha blockers are not acceptable to CAA as a treatment for high blood pressure, but now my GP is suggesting them as a possible treatment for BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia).Non-aviation related side effects are bad enough, but I am worried they would ground me as well :(
Any advice? please (before I talk to my AME). |
Have you tried Saw Palmetto for BPH?
|
No I haven't - thank you for the suggestion.
Will investigate. |
|
Thank you very much indeed :ok:
That's what I was looking for (why do they make it so difficult to find it?) Let's hope the (alpha blockers) work OK and I am not one in ten who suffer from side effects... |
They seem to be very well tolerated, and effective.
|
Indeed I tolerate them well... but some of the side effects are totally un-acceptable (at least to me personally) :{
Will have to discuss it with my GP. Let's hope he can offer alternatives (and I don't mean "alternative" medicine) that are acceptable to CAA and myself. One option seems to be Welcome to UroLift (apparently approved by NICE) Does anybody have any experience of it? |
Surgery
You could elect for surgery - TURP - I am asymptomatic now...
Surgery for me was a cure maybe not right for all though.. |
Winnerhofer
Once again you have posted complete rubbish. BPH is an ageing process and exercise is irrelevant. It is due to enlargement of the gland and there is no pus. Come and look at a prostatectomy. Testicular pain is not a symptom and anyone with testicular pain should see their doctor. As for the reversal of sides...... Not sure if you really believe what you write but it is highly misleading and could result in harm |
thanks RVR800 - I am aware of TURP as an option. To me it seems to have all the problems associated with alpha blockers (and few more). I would prefer to avoid it.
thanks Radgirl - I am well aware of problems with interweb and forums as a source of information and knowledge :ok: |
My dear Winnerhofer,
Wengen is lovely at this time of the year. The gentian that grows on the southern slopes of the pastures as one looks towards the Jungfrau are especially beneficial for the relieving of internal blockages of the brain or a faecal impacted bowel. The stamens should be slowly chewed raw for at least twenty four cycles of the jaw before being swallowed and nothing whatsoever drunk for seventy sixteen and one half hours after the treatment has commenced. Once the hallucinations usually associated with this treatment begin it is not uncommon for residents of Wengen to see mischief making trolls cavorting among the mountains whistling mellifluously through alpine horns. |
Could I have a pint of what cavortings drinking, and a winnerhofer chaser please ?
