A dream turned sour? Stents again....
Okay, so I was hoping to complete my PPL and then CPL with a view to teaching, more of a hobby than for anything else.
Imagine my shock when following some chest pains and an angiogram, I now need a stent. Only one mind, but it will probably save my life. Now from what I have read, I have no chance of getting an unrestricted Class 1 medical (other than Multi-crew), so can I assume that I will not be able to instruct? Very sad if that is the case but there we go. Even more annoyingly by BP is perfect as is my cholesterol and BMI. I don't drink, smoke etc. |
I've just read that I only need a Class 2 to instruct from 2012/13. Does anyone know whether stents make a difference? Good news?

Bell Gatwick and ask.. they are most helpful, as I know from experience.

Will do. I will try and find a number and then update this post. ;)

From the horses mouth (that's the CAA). :hmm:
Well, I am surprised. If you have stents fitted assuming you pass various other tests, you can get an unrestricted Class 2. That's always been the case but.... ... under the new EASA rules, you can also now become a paid Flight Instructor. Hope this helps others. :) |
