Pulmonary Embolism and Class 1

I am looking at returning from Australia to the UK and starting my flying again. On the medical side of things, I have previously held a Class 1 in the UK. This has now lapsed (been away 5 years). A couple of years ago, I had a knee reconstruction and managed to get a blood clot in my right lung. :=

My only concern is if this will stop me getting my Class 1 back? I have a class 2 Australian medical, and after my treatment had stopped, I got the all clear from the DAME. Blood tests were taken to test for everything, but nothing was ever found and I have no issues with genetic clotting problems.

Can the CAA check with my Australian doc for these results, or will they just see blood clot in lung and say no class 1?

Thanks for any info.

P E and class 1 .. . . . . . .

Look here : http://www.pprune.org/4617121-post2.html

If the episode was a "one-off", and the circumstances such that recurrence is unlikely, then a return of a class 1 is very likely to be possible. Sounds as if your case may come under that heading.

Good luck !
