Alcohol in Cough sweets

Whilst sitting at home other day nursing a sore throat, i looked at the ingredients of the cough sweets I just bought from the Pharmacy.. they contained Alcohol, albeit in small doses.. but my question is, If I was at work and worked through a packet of these on a flight (according to manufacturers doesage) would I be unfit to fly due to the presence of alocohol in my body....

Cheers

The human body will naturally produce (and burn) trace amounts of alcohol on its own.

Cough sweets shouldn't be a problem, some of the (older) cough medicines contain all sorts of potions though !

Anyone for a bit of "Gee's Linctus."

best avoided . . . . . . .

Maybe, maybe not. Just like for car driving, there is a legal limit for flying. But one doesn't want to be anywhere near there ! Ultimately depends on the amount in each cough-sweet, and how many you consume, I suppose ! For most pilots I know there is only one figure that makes sense for flying . . . . . . ZERO !

It's good you've noticed that things like cough sweets contain alcohol, and also very good that you've passed on that information for others' benefit. Thanks !
