Long term deviation

I'm about to be issued with a Class 1 medical with a long term deviation (due to eyesight).

Does anyone know what this means? Is my Class 1 unrestricted and, if so, why hand out a long term deviation at all! Cant seem to find where it discusses these deviations in the regs.

Cheers

No. Was told that pilots with license other than JAA one may be able to get long term deviation.

Was just wondering if anyone had actually got one recently.
