Renewing Class 1 - relaxed after initial?

Hi Guys,

I undertook my initial class one at Gatwick in Oct 2001. Since then, to cut a long story short. I have decided to learn to fly with the aim to be commercial.

I rang CAA SRG and they informed me, I only need to do my Audiogram, haemoglobin, ECG and eye test (I wear glasses). Also, I can do this locally and not have to go right the way down to Gatwick.

My question is, when I went for my initial. The prospect of failing gloomed over me. I was rather nervous. When attending a renewal, is it a lot more relaxed??

Thanks
Migs

I have a question regarding renewals. Are the eye sight limits extended or the same as the initial?

I was lead to believe that after 5 years a renewal became the same as an initial.

Generally a renewal is a lot more relaxed. During my last renewal my eye test was with the GP, whilst the initials were doing it with an eye doctor.
