hearing requirements (IAA)
 

I have recently done my class 1 medical in the Mater Ireland. I'm having trouble with the audiogram test, i'm currently 5dB outside limits on 500Hz an 3000Hz. IAA rules state that you need to be within 20dB on 500Hz 1000Hz and 2000Hz. Then 35dB on 5000Hz. They tell me that there are ammendments to be put in place which will make it similar to CAA rules where you can be within 35dB on 500hz, 1000Hz and 2000Hz. 50dB on 3000Hz. Anybody any idea when ammendments are to be put in place? Or any advice would be welcome

Have you called them and asked? Have you also tried preparing for your audiogram - i.e. getting your ears syringed first, breathing in some steam for a while to open up the tubes - might help with dulled hearing??

Hearing Disorder Endocochleaire
 

Hello everyone,

I have an FAA 1st class certificate with no restrictions and intends to convert this year into CAA UK licenses. My problem is that I have a hearing disorder which is called endocochleaire, by birth and non-evolutive.
I am in the UK CAA standards for the following frequencies:500 Hz, 2000, and 3000Hz. But I am not in the standards for 1000 Hz, I have -45 dB of loss and the requirement is max. -35 dB.
The right ear is close to perfect. I fly and this causes no problem as well as in daily life.

I would like to ask if one of you has/had a similar problem and what are my chances to pass the medical?
