Family History of Epilepsy & Class 1 Medical?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can answer this...

What's the CAA's stance on people who have a parent who suffered from epilepsy, howsoever caused?

If you can be shown to have never had a seizure or an epileptic symptom of any kind and are in good health, can you still pass the medical, or would you be automatically excluded on the grounds that someone to whom you are related had it?

Thanks.

Edit: The CAA called me back, so I thought I'd append the info to this post just in case others wanted to refer to it in the future.

The CAA's position is that they wish to know about your family medical history in this regard for completeness. However, provided that the applicant has a clean bill of health and no history of epilepsy themselves, this family history should not prevent the award of a Class 1 medical.
