CAA waiting game!

Hey all!
I was recently refered by the CAA upon a medical to see a specialist about something before i could be signed off for Class 1. The specialist has since given me the all clear and promised to write to my CAA doctor suggesting i were fit to fly. Ever since i've been anxiously waiting for a response from the CAA (preferably in the form of a C1 medical certificate! :) ) but it is taking sooooo long!
Has anyone else been in this position? How long did you have to wait before hearing from them? It's been about 3 weeks now since i saw my specialist.

First check with you specialist, or their secretary that the report has been sent, politely. If so then call the CAA medical lot (general number, press 1 then 2, I think) and ask the person at the end of the phone where your file is!

Given that you have a class one you should not have to wait too long for an answer to this.

The CAA SMO may not have the required knowledge and may be waiting for a CAA recommended specialist to consult with. Usually less than interested in the CAA apart from the money that this side-line offers. Many have very little working knowledge of pilot requirements and therefore have totally inconsistent views regarding our medical restrictions. Therefore I hope you have a good SMO looking at your case.

Personally I find the whole bunch of them somewhat archaic.

As said before check with specialist that the report has been sent to CAA.
It has taken my specialist upto 8 weeks to sent me a report!!
When I passed this on to the CAA it took them 1 week to reply to say that they needed more info from the specialist which I would have to obtain as the CAA would not deal directly with my specialist. That was 5 weeks ago, so as you can see these things do take time.
Its all just the joy of dealing with the CAA and the NHS.
