Re: Medical effects of contaminated air CONFIRMED
OK, I think that's about far enough off-topic. You two need to take it outside.

Re: Medical effects of contaminated air CONFIRMED
Quite right, no more from me on anything off-topic, except to say that the flybe private forum closed well over a year ago.
Presumably there a one or two doctors here, what do they think? |
Re: Medical effects of contaminated air CONFIRMED
Well, all quiet and then all this activity! Must be some kid if military push or what? Maybe someone needs to sell some expensive paperwork or somethin' in a hurry ! Only see that kind of activity around election time over here otherwise.
Why dont you just say who you are Torrey Canyon and flush out some of the others? It might just speed up the process, at the moment this is some kind of guess who game, with claim and counter claim. Have you thought of taking it on TV, as at the moment it is about as informative as Jerry Springer and nearly as amusing! Tac Rec guys were pretty good at spotting stuff , but let others figure what the hell it was and what it meant! This seems like manure versus fact, just deciding which is the real stuff is a bit hard for mere jet jocks, so how about some real medics casting a view on this stuff? :) Scary that just three guys can create such chaos, must be well trained and supported from somewhere! |
Medical effects; legal effects
Shipper jailed after dangerous goods discovery
11/01/2006 THE UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has brought a successful prosecution after potentially lethal chemicals were transported on a passenger aircraft. The individual involved, Manu Chandnani of Headcorn, Kent, was sentenced to a total of 12 months in prison for recklessly endangering an aircraft and for causing dangerous goods to be loaded onto an aircraft for shipment. Chandnani sent highly dangerous chemicals, which are banned from carriage by air, on a passenger flight from the UK to Dubai, where the items were discovered in transit to Tehran. The goods sent by Chandnani were packaged in a conventional sealed cardboard box with no warning of the nature of the contents. Geoff Leach, head of the CAA's Dangerous Goods Office said: "As the air on board an aircraft, such as the Boeing 747 involved, is circulated through both the cabin and cargo area, had the chemicals spilled vapours could have dispersed throughout the entire aircraft with potentially extremely serious effects on passengers and crew." http://www.aircargonews.net/news_item.aspx?n=284 |
AOPIS letter to the Secretary of State for Transport - CAA and Contaminated Air.
AOPIS has written to the Rt. Honorable Douglas Alexander, Secretary of State for Transport in the UK clearly outlining that in relation to contaminated air, the UK CAA has been negligent and failed to take steps to address the very serious health and flight safety issues exposure to contaminated air can create.
AOPIS calls for a public inquiry. A full copy of the letter is available at: http://www.aopis.org/Secretary_of_St...006_re_CAA.pdf http://www.aopis.org |

Good letter - bit on the long side? Can't wait for his reply; but won't hold my breath. :D Please post when you can. DB |
This must be highly Political. I can't see any other reason why it has been 25 years or more with still nothing being done about the problem.
I suppose if it is admitted that there is a problem then the flood gates open and it's Lawsuit City. |
Cabin-Air Contamination?
A few days ago in The Independent I read about worries that bleed air from turbines was laced with certain organo-phosphates causing loss of memory and poor performance. After further investigation on the internet I managed to find out that the problems were belived to be caused by some Mobil lubricants which, upon leaking, voporised into the air-conditioning and caused the issues. It mentioned specifically the BAe146.
Does anyone know any more information about this? Other than the obvious safety issue, it could provide me with a perfect excuse for shoddy crosswind landings! |
There have been a few threads on this topic in this section and also in Rumour & News section, from memory. You may be able to bring up a few threads if you do a search.
