Hearing Tests

Anybody know the best way to help get a little better reading on a hearing test?

Going for one on Wed, and my ears have been getting a little worse as time goes by.

Any directions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Wished I knew the answer as I have the same problem. An ENT specialist might be of assistance.

I can't understand why the Jaa don't allow hearing aids. Well they allow eye sight correction so why not hearing correction?

Maybe I am missing something. I have yet to hear (no I am not completely deaf) of a good explaination why they won't "wear" hearing aids.

What normally helped me was to "rest" my hearing if possible a few days before the test by wearing some sort of ear defender or remaining in a low noise envoriment. Good luck.

As long as it's not an initial medical test just be laid back about it. If you fail the test completely and utterly, the rulebook sayeth that you get a practical check with a training captain, and as long as you CAN actually hear the radio, the idents, the intercom etc, then you will be OK. Maybe catch an 'as or with' rating, but that's not critical for most operations these days, precious little single crew stuff around.

Good luck!:ok:

no worries

I did my first class 1 med this week and was worried about the hearing test. I played drums for 15years and played in a heavy rock band for 4/5 years. I expected that I would have probs. especially at the high frequencies. HOWEVER, I only missed one!
The sounds are barely audible, and all I could hear was my heart and breath. So I held my breath as much as possible so as to better listen. It all went well and I can hear just fine, but I understand your concerns. I guess what I am trying to say is that unless you specifically know of hearing loss in yourself, you may be worrying too soon, like I was? Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden passed his and he must have been affected by all those years on stage...

Hope it goes well for you
