JAA Medical in Australia

Can anybody tell me whether a JAA Class 1 medical, issued in Australia, will be accepted in Ireland or England? Also can anybody recommend a DAME authorised to issue JAA medicals in Aus?

Thanks! :)

JAA Class 1 medicals can only be issued by a JAA Aero medical Centre. AMEs cannot issue them, only renew them. You will have to visit a JAA state to get one.

Hi Tom,

Just to back up the previous post - Australia doesn't issue JAR medicals as it is not in the JAA!

If you have an Oz Class 1 then to convert it to a UK one (assuming you want a UK issued license) then this link may help:

I haven't looked in great detail but suspect you may be up for 422 pounds up front :-(

No he wouldn't, the CAA UK would charge him about half that because he has a professional licence with a class one medical.
However, you would have to do the "initial" at Gatwick (or where ever the IAA wants it done) A JAA medical can be renewed in Australia. :)
