CAA Class 1 Medical at Gatwick
 

I would just like to say thanks to everyone at Aviation House for making my stay during my initial Class 1 a comfortable and enjoyable experience, Im writing this because sometimes too many people focus and moan about the bad things and forget about the good things, and people forget to highlight when theres something positive to say, everyone at the medical division were really friendly and a special thanks to Alison who on the whole looked after me during my stay, and my wife would just like to comment on how comfortable your sofa's are :cool: :E

Well you obviously passed then, well done!!

Yes I have found the CAA FCL very friendly and helpful. 25 years ago, more, that was not the case, let me assure you.

Im assuming Ive passed doubleu-anker, Alison did say to me if I was not called back into any of the departments for a further "consultation" then all should be fine, obviously they confirm this within 10 days so heres hoping ;)
I was rather concerned that I would fail the eye test, I have no idea why but I thought if anything this would be the area, luckily I still have 20/20 at the ripe old age of 31, lucky me eh

Deano777 The medical cannot be described as "enjoyable". Its something that has to be done.

Perhaps a lot of negative things are focused on here because it is a forum about medical problems/issues.

Whats the point in starting a stupid thread saying how enjoyable it was and how comfortale the sofas were?

Its not going to help people with their medical questions is it.

Give the guy a break, the initial Class 1 is scary! Think back to when you did it!

Tell that to my wife who had just given birth and was enduring a 3½ hr stay, and that was her comment not mine

Hmmm, I cant recall seeing me post this below someone's medical question, maybe you need thicker glasses?

The class 1 asks 4 a 5dioptres + or - I am either -5 or slighty higher which could put me over th limit and I want to know wether they allow to a certain limit? I am 15 and I want to get my class 1 just in case my eyes go worse, because after the intial it drops down to -+8 dioptres!

Have a look at the CAA wegsite.

If you look on there you can read that those who are within renewal but outside initial limits should contact the medical department.

They seem to take a sympathetic view on those in that predicament.

But as I already said on another thread, if your eyes are showing a deteriorating trend, think very carefully before committing yourself financially and emotionally to a career in aviation, if there is a relatively high risk that the sight could go even beyond the renewal limit.

eye sight detiroates in early teens
 

I am 15 and eyesight deterioates in the early teens plus wearing glasses/contacts ALL THE TIME does not return your eyes to normal they make them worse if anything!!!
