no. its quite confusing. i think it depends on the type of FAA license you have.

You would have to go to Gatwick for the initial issue. I believe there are some concessions but basically you would start afresh.

If you have a ICAO CPL or higher and you want to get a UK CAA/JAR Class 1 medical then it is treated as a "lapsed" renewal* and has to be done at Gatwick. This costs around £200 and doesn't involve a chest x-ray or EEG.

That depends entirely about which CAA you are talking: If you meant the UK CAA, then yes, it'll be an initial. If it is some other, then I would contact an AME of a few countries.

If you did it in Germany for example, you could do a German CAA (LBA) renewal, then get a CAA UK renewal a minute later from the same examiner.

Else, get the form from the CAA UK, take it out to the AME, once he has filled it in, you pay £20 in Gatwick, and there is your CAA UK medical.

This procedure does not depend on the licence held.

Hey guys, I've got a German class 1 medical and I want to transfer it to the UK, can I do this without a licence? The UK website isn't very clear on this, as I want to train in the UK and not germany. Any info would be great! :)
