Thyorid surgery and substitute medication

Has anyone a idea what is the consequence when the thorid is
removed and you have to take substitute medication?
All blood tests are normal and the pathalogy did not find any
evidence of cancer. The thyorid is partially dead and has to be
removed as a precaution not to develop any further illness.
The AME saight it is not a problem for renewing the 1st class.

Your AME is correct. There is usually no problem. You may have to provide the results of periodic blood tests to show that you remain well.

Cheers,

Hi, if you had a Thyrodectomy due to a thyroid nodule you should not have any problem with your medical certificate if your level of hormone and calcium are within limits, FAA permits pilots to use medicines (levothyroxine) to replace the absence of thyroid glad
:ok:

Thanks for the information Chaps. The "dead part" is out and I was written fit to fly 14 days after the Thyorid Gland removal. I am taking substitute medication now daily and the FAA asked for a update during my next medical in November. All was less dramatic then I feared first.

Hey B737NG it would help YOU a lot if you learned how to spell the name of the thing on which you are seeking advice!!!

Sorry I am not an expert on the subject.

Milt,

I think everyone else knew what B737NG was talking about, and were quite helpful. Your comment added nothing of use to the thread, and was NOT helpful.

Criticism over trivial errors is not acceptable.
