Where to buy custom earplugs
My airline has a headset off , speaker on policy. I notice my ears ringing after a flight. Anyone know a good place to get earplugs that cancel the background noise but allow you to hear the radio and other pilot normally.

In Germany, there is a "chain" of producers of hearing aids, called "KIND".

The produce individual ear plugs with a replaceable "silencer" (5/10/25 db afair).
I paid about 200 Euro (=250 USD) for mine....and they are great!

I've been using the ACS ER15s for around 6 months. I'm very pleased with them. The noise levels are much reduced and you can still hear speech and radio communication headset on or off and using the speaker. They stay in for the walkaround and it's possible even with the brake fans running. One bonus is that I find my fatigue levels are much better: less noise is simply less fatiguing. Even now, when I take them out at the end of the day, I still can't believe how noisy the ventilation fans are!
I got mine via Boots. Go to a larger branch of the Opticians and make an appointment with the Audiologist who will take mouldings of the ears and send it to ACS who send the hearing protectors to you.

I work in the 'ramp' environment, hearing protection is a daily issues in our workplace.
I would just make one comment, it may be obvious but it IS often overlooked.
With any 'in ear' protection your standards of personal hygiene need to be very high. It may sound like a no brainer but it really is important. Your ears a very sensitive and delicate organs if you are going to insert a foreign object which will remain in place for hours at a time, you need to be sure they are clean ...
On the ramp where hearing protection is used/removed on a frequent basis we tend towards 'on ear' protection (in preference to in-ear) simply because the working environment is not conducive to high standards of hygiene for removal, storage and refitting of in-ear devices.
Please don't get me wrong these in-ear devices are great but just remember the hygiene aspect of their use.

They are custom made for your ear so you need to get moulds made for them. I suggest you give them a call to find where the nearest place is that you can get the moulds done.
