Now, I shall come and go on this thread as I please. Even though it makes me lose my appetite.

Are you just making it up as you go along?

There were up to 60 million refugees in Europe during WW2. 40 million when the war ended and a decade later there were still people living in refugee camps.

Anyone who has watched those 'fly on the wall' police patrol documentaries might just have noticed the huge percentage of those caught/convicted are immigrants of various origins.

" Everyone in this whole mess is lying to suit their situations. I believe, while the boy did sadly drown, the photos were all staged to give the media something to chomp on"

Your career as a conspiracy theorist may still be in it's development stage....thankfully.

I presume, on the basis of the above, the funerals and evident grief of the father and relatives were also staged were they?. Unless, of course, you can offer substantiated proof your statement is correct.

And lets not forget the baby, born on the railway station. Was that staged as well ?

I see that, yet again, you refer to "fit able bodied males".

Have you actually watched the news of this humanitarian crisis, although I wonder if many of the right wing actually understand the meaning of the term and its applicability, because if you had done, then it would have been patently evident as to the demographic overall.

Then there have been the interviews with so many of these refugees. The range of occupations alone stands out, as does their ability to articulate their situation.

Since you seem obsessed with "able bodied males" not fighting, in your opinion, please explain to us as to how you, as an unarmed civilian, would countenance air-strikes, conventional land warfare, insurgency albeit in this case cold blooded extremist murder and, finally, chemical weapons.

Oddly enough, I seem to recall a considerable number of, predominantly white males, from across the UK also feature.

Do you spend your evenings watching these programmes...... with a couple of counter clickers to work out the percentiles afterwards ?

With respect, I am watching, at this very moment a TV reporter walking amongst the masses live "to the west of Budapest" and every single person I can see is a)Male b) Under 40 c) Of visually hale and hearty condition. Many don't seem to have the physical characteristics to suggest that they come from disaster porn's latest darling, namely Syria. Now they're showing migrants using their smartphones GPS facilities to find the border with Austria…..:ugh: Where are they getting a network from ? How are they paying for it ?

I'm won't to help/be kind to those I see in need of help on a daily basis, yet I feel strangely indifferent to this present onslaught. I might be over stressing the situation, but it has the feeling of being just the beginning.

I'm suffering from extreme sympathy fatigue. It seems that everyone and his brother are fleeing the middle (and far) east and Africa to come to Europe. This country neither wants nor needs any more troublesome welfare cases.

but it has the feeling of being just the beginning.
And that is the most worrying issue which I have not heard any one in the media nor any politician addressing, with the possible exception of the British government. This is an ongoing problem which may well get even bigger. There will probably be an easing over the Winter but, unless we find an answer, the problem will be even worse next Summer as friends and family come to join those already here.

That's just scaremongering. Obviously, you just have to let in a few million 'migrants', and the rest of Africa will decide to stop coming.

Historians are going to be have a hard time writing the history of this era, because they just won't be able to believe how insane government policies had become.

Espada III 5th Sep 2015 22:24

I feel strangely undecided about the crisis. My great grandparents came here in 1901 to escape pogroms, anti-semitism and to seek a better life. They were not aided by any government, but came here legally (presumably sponsored by Jews already in Britain) and made a life for themselves and hopefully through their descendants have benefited UK society through our careers and volunteering. Would I want that to be the case again- of course.

However, the UK is now far more densely populated, we are already seeing a significant change in the make up of UK society, such that the stereotypical Brit is unrecognisable from even 10 years ago. Clearly some of these migrants are educated and would be a tremendous benefit to the UK, but others are chancers and possible terrorists. To take anyone who happened to pitch up in Calais is foolish and I fully agree with David Cameron that it will only lead to more risking life and limb. How we help and who we help is a difficult decision - I wish King Solomon was still around......

tony draper 5th Sep 2015 22:36

The population of this country in 1901 was probably about twenty million Mr Espanda, plenty of room then, what? 70 million now?,counting all the illegals the government likes to pretend aren't here, there has never ever been a situation like this before it is utterly pointless to put forward the old "We are all imigrants" argument in the present situation,

ORAC 5th Sep 2015 22:43

A sobering and honest evaluation. Europe is being ripped apart.....

Migrants' great escape to the 'other' Europe reveals stark divide

Perhaps the coalition should have left Iraq and Afghanistan alone. Perhaps then Syria and Libya would also be peaceful and comfortable dictatorships still. That did not happen and we have to live with it.
Perhaps if we finished what we started, instead of virtually abandoning those to countries out of spite for the previous administration, things would be different.

Perhaps instead of trying to prove a point, and Obama going on his own left wing ideological crusade, and trying to encourage an Arab spring and supporting various uprisings things would be different.

Perhaps etc etc, cooda shoulda woulda.

What do we do about it now, group hugs and warm and fuzzyness isn't going to solve the problem.

tony draper 5th Sep 2015 22:53

Be another six hundred years before those buggas are ready for democracy.

meadowrun 5th Sep 2015 23:12

Krystal....funny, I've always thought of myself a definite left-leaner. I observe though, quite astutely I like to think and as a photographer for more than 40 years my suspicion that the baby body sequences were staged is equally as valid as yours that they were not. You have no more proof than I do and I do note the father has apparently been lying about the Canadian connection.

And as for the thousands of fit males just running away from trouble, I think it is the height of naivety to believe that is their only option. Ask the Americans about the use of militias and backbone.

People constantly fearful for their lives tend to cut down on the bringing a child into the world activities at least temporarily.

How many "refugees" are you sponsoring btw?

cockney steve 5th Sep 2015 23:13

At the risk of being repetitious, the UN should send an invasion force to any / all these countries where the majority of the population are fleeing an unwanted governance, destroy the unwanted governance and set up a Government in occupation, who could then second indigenous people to take over the administration.

They prefer Western democracy, otherwise they wouldn't come here. If they are incapable of securing a happy lifestyle in their own country, the West should assist them...
The only sensible way is strong, swift military action to crush the unwanted terror-merchants and allow the more peaceable elements to take charge.

Make their own countries fit for them to live in.

Except for the bits they don't like, such as women's rights, multi party democracy, tolerance of other religions or ethnic groups, abortion, gays, right wingers, an independent judiciary...

And how would you do that?

The plan was apparently:

1. Invade.
2. ???
3. Iraq becomes Western liberal democracy.

What's your step two?

MTOW 6th Sep 2015 01:47

Look on the bright side. We'll all feel warm and huggy as the results of our cultural suicide become more and more apparent. Is it possible to feel good, knowing you've done the right thing, as you watch your society implode?

Russia setting up large amounts of military equipment and advisors in Syria. As the Chinese insult goes, 'May you live in interesting times.'

parabellum 6th Sep 2015 02:41

Taking in hundreds of thousand of refugees is not the long term solution, IS has to be stopped at source.
From the TV news I see thousands of young men of military age arriving in Germany.

What I would now like to see is the families placed and supported in suitable accommodation that will enable a community spirit to pertain and as a condition of their shelter and support the young, medically fit men will be conscripted into a special unit of the German army, (other European countries to do the same), where they will be well equipped and highly trained soldiers who will become the spearhead of a ground force, possibly numbering 100,000+, who will go back to Syria and Iraq and reclaim their own country for themselves, much cheaper than permanently settling an ever expanding group of people whose cultures and customs don't always dovetail with Western culture. Fat chance. :(
