Don't forget, everyone from Clapper on down said categorically, no one is tappping Trump.
GF

They told the truth. It is not their fault Trump surrounded himself with scum suspected of being agents of a foreign power.

So happy to see the left wing is as giddy about removing Trimp and making it President Pence as I am.

Ooooo - required health insurance is "da-a-a-ngerous!" I didn't realize big, strong Texans were such snowflakes... ;)

Yes, being responsible is not free.

and to continue in the strawman vein:confused:, as you seem wont to do - required health insurance is not dangerous. A politician who can mandate all people pay into a fed program, run(as inefficiently as possible) by crats, and that SCOTUS has endorsed this descent into penury - is dangerous. No matter the state one lives in.

If mandates were a good idea, we could end homelessness by mandating everyone buy a home.

Well, there was a time when removing Nixon would have made it "President Agnew."

Oooops!

Pence has made demonstrably false statements - but I give him the benefit of the doubt: he was a pawn misled by others in the administration, on the public evidence thus far.

With what? Borrowed money?

By the way, is that a threat? Does the Secret Service know you're threatening the president?

GF

Trump used the term "wire tapped". Strictly speaking there was no "wiretap". The communications being recorded were wireless, hence no "wire". Wiretap is an archaic term; because the tweet was worded imprecisely, Clapper et all were technically correct in denying "wiretapping".

Of course Trump et al were being recorded... Supposedly, Mueller is looking into "unmasking", though I believe his purpose is to sugar coat it.

It's borrowed money funding government health care, so why not? While we're at it, let's borrow or print a couple trillion dollars for everyone in need.

Echoes of the past, perhaps? Didn't the then President Clinton mandate that the major building societies in the USA lend money to people who had no hope of maintaining a mortgage just so that he would look good, fast forward to 2008 and we all know how that worked out!;)

Taking the knee.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a7964101.html

I'm genuinely interested in our Cousins in what they think about this issue? Does a persons perceived legitimate right to protest on an issue beat their standing for the Anthem? Which would you defend the most?

obgraham 24th Sep 2017 20:50

I think the majority of "football fan" types agree with Trump on this. Though you would never guess that based on the media, centered as they are in NY, DC, and SF.

Sports are a diversion and entertainment. Most of us don't want politics infused there. And disrespecting the nation's symbols is offensive to many.

Nobody is suggesting they cannot "protest" if they wish. But there are consequences: decreased viewers, avoiding sponsors, etc. The owners would be justified in requiring certain standards of behavior, or the player can skedaddle. NFL is a very productive cash cow.

However nobody likes being told by the President how to think, be he Republican or Democrat. So it isn't surprising there is a backlash from the players this weekend. Let's see what goes on in a month.

But it is curious how an apparent slight against the flag is Presidential news, but supporting Nazis and white extremists is fine and dandy. Consistency is not the hallmark of this administration.

What is this thing about "disrespecting the flag"? Would that include using the flag as underwear, which is not that uncommon with the Union Flag?

I don't see taking a knee as disrespectful at all. Wearing clothing that has "Make America Great Again" written on it is disrespectful because it implies that America is not great. Electing a buffoon like Trump is disrespectful. He's done more to bring shame to the USA than anyone else ever has. But taking a knee? It's traditional to kneel in prayer, or when proposing. There is nothing disrespectful about it, and they have an absolute right to do it. That said, I have little interest in professional sports (I'm a doer, not a watcher).

Care to produce some examples of Trump's supporting extremists of any color or are you just projecting your idea of what was said?

GF

obgraham 24th Sep 2017 22:34

I suspect that the reactions to this issue will break down as usual, between Trumpophobics and those who don't think the sky is falling.

His use of the word "we" to express solidarity with a Nazi mob will do for a start.

Trump was in Germany?

Who knew?

Douglas Schoen is no Trump fan, but believes Hilary is missing the boat.

Cazalet33 25th Sep 2017 01:18

The ironic thing is it's against the law to march with a Nazi flag in Germany.
There's nothing ironic about that.

The US is a fascist country, based on the imperialism of the Roman Empire. That symbology is all around America, but there are trained not to recognise fascism at home.

Instead, they are trained to avert their gaze and to deny reality. The Emperor has new clothes, and all that.
