If the BBC shut up for a few months this country would be far better off.

Chuck, the answer was one word!

Under the devolved Scottish Government there has been a decline in education, closures of facilities in the NHS and reductions in social care provision. I will give one example (and I am sure that others will be pleased to provide more): in the geographically huge area of Perth and Kinross there is no NHS maternity provision 'if you need medical help during labour'.

The Scottish government receives a higher rate per head of funding for such provisions than is available for the English equivalent. On top of this the Scottish government now have increased tax-raising powers. Where is all this money going in Scotland?

There appears to be closure of public conveniences (toilets) unless the towns are prepared to take them on and cover the costs.

That's not unique to Scotland by any means. There are English towns where public toilets have been closed down. Some have been sold off by councils for residential use, with planning regulations applied flexibly in order to increase the sale value.

Most public conveniences you would not wish to use anyway. Pop into a pub, hotel, coffee shop, cafe or large shop, have a drink (or not) and avail yourself of its facilities.

Any evidence that they have used the powers yet? Or was getting the right do so, a willy-wave?

Middle-class Scots to pay 400 more income tax than English thanks to SNP-Green Budget deal

.. and I personally know a number of Scots who aren't happy about it.

Salmond denies sexual misconduct allegations.

It's just another crude MI5 conspiracy to try and discredit anything connected with Russia. :E

But, when the UK tax take is dished out, the Scots get 1600 per head more than those in the rest of the UK. It pays for the free stuff that the rest have to pay for.

Alex Salmond is raising 70,000 in a huge crowd funding campaign to cover his legal bills

sitigeltfel 30th Aug 2018 15:29

I wonder how many of those contributing to Salmonds defence against groping were also shrieking with outrage against Trumps alleged sexual harassment when he visited Scotland recently?
