Rudd's PNG Solution seems to be unravelling already, at lleast according to Janet Albrechtsen and the Oz generally.

If they're right, then Rudd really has/is a problem. The proposition is that his Messiah complex has compelled him to go for a headline above all else, perhaps to give him a start in an election to be declared imminently.

Gillard's lousy judgment was bad enough. No-one in Australia, not Liberal, Labor or anyone else can afford to have a psychopathic egoist like Rudd at the helm.

As the old sailors' saying goes, 'It's bad luck to steer straight for rocks'.

God, at the suggestion of a new name for the Prince,
suggested Kevin :ugh::ugh::ugh:

Please, has he permeated our society that someone wants a permanent
reminder of him ????

So, instead of being repayment for services rendered to the Fuzzie Wuzzies, it could have been an advance for the collaboration of anti Saddam Iraqi's?

 Sorry not following you??

And that's the beauty of "ALP Twist History"...nobody gets it!

Another 60 feared dead after another boat sunk.
Sounds like this lot didn't get far from Java
because the Indos are taking the lead in the search.

It says "Sri Lankans and Iranians" !

RJM 24th Jul 2013 00:46

We're a sound, solid country with a wacko, (very temporary I hope) leader. Rudd is not only a clown, but a dangerous one. He reminds me of an unkillable ventriloquist's dummy in a horror film. No matter what you do to him, he keeps reviving...

Flying Binghi 24th Jul 2013 05:04

Dang! i'll hafta get me TV working for this interview...

Confirmed today: Kevin Rudd will be my guest on The Bolt Report on Sunday, as first arranged a fortnight before he became Prime Minister.

In the show’s two and half years, not once would Julia Gillard appear. Only one of her Ministers - Anthony Albanese - would accept the hundreds of invitations we sent them. The ban was almost total.

Rudd, to his credit, has decided to talk to conservative presenters. He was interviewed this morning by 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, who was banned by Julia Gillard for allegedly not showing her the respect she felt she was entitled to.

Rudd knows I am critical of his various policies, but is prepared to argue his case. Give him credit for that.

The Bolt Report is on Channel 10 at 10am and 4.30pm on Sunday.

I think most on the Libs/Nats side of politics will come away disappointed with Rudd v Bolt, but that's just my opinion. Rudd will weasel out of giving any substantive answers, (although I'll bet he tries to give some reaaaaaaalllllly long ones if Bolt lets him get away with it).

Bolt may be a strong journalist, (some would disagree), but I don't think 'one on ones' with an antagonistic interviewee are his strong suit. His tone, to me, is a little too close to hectoring, and from what I've seen of him, he lacks the killer punch of a Mike Willesee.

How oh so many of us would love to see Bolt come up with an 'iced sponge cake' killer interview a la John Hewson, (the interview that turned an unlosable election into anything but for the Libs), but I can't see it myself.

However, I hasten to say I would really love to be proven wrong and would oh so happily eat crow if I am.

I saw a couple of interviews with PNG politicians and men on the street today. The devil is certainly in the details this time, and the Australian MSM are going to have to work overtime in ignoring this to maintain the "Kevin's pulled off a masterstroke" line.

And still the boats (attempt to) come...

Your bluff's been called on the boats, Kev. Big time - and I suspect it's going to get bigger - a lot bigger - over the next week or so. Time to ante up or throw in your cards and (to mix my metaphors slightly) give someone else a go at playing banker.

When you play the tough guy, sometimes you actually have to do something tough rather than just threaten to. Do you have the ticker to call the people smugglers' bluff?

I for one don't think so.

Binghi, Bolt's show is available on his website as Youtube clips from early evening on the date of the show.

SOPS 24th Jul 2013 07:19

Well, the MSM in Australia might be ignoring the AS situation , but here in London , the BBC are all over it. They just had a live interview with the administrator of Christmas Island. He said that they have had 2 boats arrive today, 200 people, and they were post PNG announcement departures.Apparently the AS had stated that they were aware of the new policy, but chose to go anyway, believing it would not actually be applied.

The time for talking is over, Kev. It's action time, time to show there is actually some substance behind all that talk.

And that's the beauty of "ALP Twist History"...nobody gets it!

But this "ALP Twist History", is sounding rather more LNP Spin?!?!

So, instead of being repayment for services rendered to the Fuzzie Wuzzies, it could have been an advance for the collaboration of anti Saddam Iraqi's?

I am not understanding what its meant by that statement.

Secret paymen....sorry....bribes were made to Saddam, unbeknownst the wider population of Australia....that is how I understand it, is that correct???

(Regardless of whether or not "that's the way you do business there")

I thought that was what the 'scandal' was about...???

Am I wrong?? .... I was once back in '83 :p Ha ha

Fail to see how legitimate AID going to (and had been going to under successive Aust Governments for years) PNG can be at all likened to secretive payments to a maniacal towelhead tyrant.

....perhaps 'LNP Spin history' can enlighten me....because at this time -

So, instead of being repayment for services rendered to the Fuzzie Wuzzies, it could have been an advance for the collaboration of anti Saddam Iraqi's?

.....makes no sense at all.....perhaps a classic LNP ploy to spin the truth into something it is not....you know say it over enough, enough times you begin to believe it....

Haneef anyone??

Just posted on Michael Smith's site. Four boats are in trouble. They are calling May Day's. One is coming from Sri Lanka. One is taking on water.

SOPS 24th Jul 2013 09:48

Well, as I discussed in my post above, it appears that the AS are ignoring the new 'hard line' and just keep coming. Any new ideas Kev?

Buster Hyman 24th Jul 2013 09:48

Had to happen. More May Days than we can handle at one time probably!

Confirmed today: Kevin Rudd will be my guest on The Bolt Report on Sunday, as first arranged a fortnight before he became Prime Minister
I'll believe it when I see it.

RJM 24th Jul 2013 10:03

It's like a hjigh stakes card game, played with human lives.

Rudd ups the ante (yet again) with his PNG ultimatum, so the people smuggling industry responds with a flush of boats meant to expose (yet again) Rudd's (ie Australia's) move as a bluff.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Rudd hasn't the capacity to deliver on his threat.

Re Bolt's show - Rudd has one 'killer punch' he'll try to deliver: our debt per capita is relatively low, so why should we worry? I'm no economist, but I believe that there is a basic flaw in presenting that figure as characteristic of our situation. I hope Bolt calls him on it, as well as nailing Rudd on the deadly results of his management of our borders.

Rudd's no mighty 'ex-diplomat', by the way. His diplomatic career was short, undistinguished and he soon returned to local political scuffling as chief of staff to Qld premier Goss where he was known as Dr Death.

The only entertainment Rudd offers is his mangled bureaucratic jargon and out of date, insincere folksiness.

Andu 24th Jul 2013 10:04

See post 7048 Cap'n.

RJM 24th Jul 2013 10:20

And another thing...

You can tell when Rudd is bullsh*tting:

- he becomes verbose, playing for time to think: "Well, you know what, Andrew? In relation to Mr Abbott blah blah I would simply say this..."

- his normally punctilious pronunciation becomes even prissier and more pedantic

- he asks himself questions and answers them

I could go on but I can feel my blood pressure rising.

No prizes for second Fleigs.

Huh?

Are you going to respond directly, and address exactly how you draw a parallel between paying bribes to the butcher of Baghdad, and supplying aid to a less than fortunate near neighbour, that provided significant assistance to our Nation (Nayshun, if you prefer), during a time of global conflict......

And frankly....this statement still does not make sense -

So, instead of being repayment for services rendered to the Fuzzie Wuzzies, it could have been an advance for the collaboration of anti Saddam Iraqi's?
