Remember that the poll was taken before the rout in WA hit the streets. I think that news was the absolute tipping point. It has now sunk into the public consciousness that Labor is f**ked and that Dullard is on a slide to oblivion.
Even the ABC have unsheathed their knives ready to plunge them into her back. :E I suspect that the next poll will show a terminal position. |
Stephen ("red underpants") Conroy has just announced that the minority Labor government will ram through controversial media ownership legislation in two weeks.
Is this an example of what some have said here in the last few weeks? Is Labor attempting to stack the deck ahead of the election so that they will be able to control what is said by the media when the election campaign officially starts? This country is looking more and more like Germany in 1933 with every day that passes. The kindest spin I can place upon this is that it's just an attempt to provide the MSM with a giant distraction to keep Labor's total, shambolic misrule off the front pages. Sort of "sports drugs scandal" Mark 2. |

Re the media laws, that might have been really relevant 20 years ago when a lot of people read newspapers and everyone went home and watched the 6 o'clock news. But society now has so many more communication channels than before and the Gov't can't control them all. Yes, they can influence the TV and newspapers but all the other channels, not so easily. They can seed them but what else ? Who here logs onto a forum - PPrune or other - before reading the newspapers, either print version or on line ? |
Jilted but still panting ex-lover Emerson is on TV again pleading the case of his uncaring goddess.
"It's disgraceful stuff, it's disgusting stuff, (Emerson says of the Obeid fracas) but it's ridiculous and absurd to relate that to Julia Gillard's behaviour..." Well, except that they are probably both lying crooks... (Someone should tell Emerson that a performance like this could ruin his chances with the foxy Emma Alberici) |
Emma's body language when she was interviewing Conroy suggests that he ain't getting a Christmas card from her this year.
|
I watched Conroy make his extraordinary "take it or leave it" comment about the proposed media laws and couldn't help but ask: do this man's staff and media handlers tape his press conferences and show them to their Minister? If so, is there one among them with the balls/ovaries to tell the man that the way he carries on, he comes across as a total prat?
Surely this is, as Paul Murray said last night, a cynical, calculated attempt to provide a distraction to keep the media's attention away from Gillard's appalling lack of leadership. |
Well Ryan got his marching orders !
Good to see Kim Wells moved somewhere else, what they were saying was true, he wasn't selling the economic message. Police Minister dumped as Napthine announces reshuffle |
Had the Transport Minister here yesterday & the Premier today 500N...I'd ask him personally for you, but I doubt he'd be inclined to talk to lowly me... ;):p
|
LOL :O
No need to ask him. The fact that very few could tell you who the treasurer was says enough. If Napthine is given a chance, he might just do a good job. We will see but anything is better than before. |

Anything the Vics can do, we can do better.......:E
Terry Mills dumped as NT Chief Minister and replaced by Adam Giles - the first political leader with Aboriginal heritage (?). At least our first term dumping of a leader is likely to lead to more spectator sport as the CLP continues down the path of dysfunctionality. Sadly for the NT, these guys are still much more competent than anything labor can offer - a point regularly overlooked by the NT News. |
Must be the week for rolling leaders.
Terry Mills, NT Chief minister has been knocked off even though he is overseas !!! LOL Vic, NT, all we need now is Julia to go this week :O |
Cooda
"a point regularly overlooked by the NT News." Isn't everything except junk, drunk and naked overlooked by the NT News ? :O Re Terry Mills, it was kind of self inflicted since he was elected ? |

Just watched Jools assuring us that there's nuffink to fear in the proposed "public good" media legislation. Two questions completely off the topic of what she was saying came to mind:
(1) if, as we are led to believe, she (or possibly we, the taxpayers) paid for some high end spectacles frame fashionista to fly up from Melbourne with a suitcase full of spectacles frames, why in the world didn't she (or we) fork out the very few extra dollars to get non-reflecting lenses? I'm sure I'm not the only one to be distracted by the reflections of the multiple cameras that appear in her lenses, and (2) given that the reflections that appear seem to be totally undistorted, just how weak is her prescription? Thanks to the squirmingly embarrassing social bombshell from Craig Emerson that screamed "too much information!, waaaay too much information!" to most of us, we know that Julia has worn contact lenses for some years, so we could take it as read that the glasses are required, but the fact remains, those lenses, without the non-reflective coating most people in the public eye employ, look like flat plates. |
Another busy week: 12 March 2013 - Border Protection Command intercepts vessel 10 March 2013 - Border Protection Command intercepts vessel 9 March 2013 - Border Protection Command assists vessel 8 March 2013 - Border Protection Command intercepts vessel 5 March 2013 - Border Protection Command assists vessel Plus this one that’s not on the Minister’s list: A distressed boat carrying 103 would-be refugees and two crew was also intercepted on Sunday north of Christmas Island. So nearly 300 for the week. |

A certain senior member of the NT News staff has made it his life's work to run Mills down. Sensationalist headlines, wildly innaccurate stories, staged public petitions etc etc. (Yeh, I know that it's pretty standard NT News fare. :E) But of course it had nothing to do with him being passed over for a senior political staffer's appointment with the CLP or his wife losing her senior political staffer's job with labor when they lost office. Ah well. Never a dull moment. Reading the comments on the story online - the electorate is not impressed that they did it while he was out of the country. The reviled "Terrible Bills" is about to be reborn through martyrdom a la Rudd, methinks. |

That has to be the biggest wank job out. How many places in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne could she have arranged to discretely go to in the last month or so ? If the Queen can go "shopping" in supermarkets incognito around Balmoral with minimal security, surely the PM can go to a specialist behind closed doors ??????? No wonder she has lost all credibility. |
Cooda
Agree that doing it when he was out of the country was a bit off but the Senior NT news guy didn't need to do much then. I know I only spend brief periods in the NT but keep abreast of things weekly. Mill's hasn't exactly endeared himself since he got in with some of the policy changes he has made - Price hikes ???? |
The trouble is that any government that has to follow a Labour government is forced into several years of unpopularity as they try to sort out their predecessors mess and have little chance of showing what, given a fair chance, the could actually do..
