Reduce the fuel load - Reduce the fire

.

Miranda Devine has been commenting on bush fires for a few years now...

Tasmania is a petri dish, demonstrating the consequences of green ideology run rampant. No jobs, the forestry industry on its knees, and bushfires feasting on fuel built up over two mild fire seasons. Yet, instead of facing up to their errors, the Greens conveniently blame climate change. They pretend imposing a carbon tax or destroying the coal industry will prevent bushfires, while reducing the actual fuel which powers the flames is “futile”.
Green arrogance burns fiercely | Daily Telegraph Miranda Devine Blog

And from 2002...

The parliamentary inquiry into the Christmas bushfire disaster is in danger of becoming a farce designed to exclude anyone with a view contrary to the Government's. Submissions blaming inadequate hazard reduction by NSW authorities have been mislaid, committee members remain in the dark and major players in land management, such as State Forests, which advocates prescribed burning, have been ignored.

Re Miranda Devine's blog: see my post #3857 way back on page 195:

Jools on AM this morning wearing her deep and meaningful voice as she pontificated about the Tassie bushfires.

The cynic in me sees McTurdan at a strategy meeting telling her that with a bit of luck and help from the ever-compliant and always co-operative mainstream media, she could turn these fires into her own Barack Obama New York pre-election hurricane.

...but that would be horribly cynical of me.

Back to the bushfires: what's the bet we're about to hear that the Greenies have forbidden burn backs and the clearing of fire trails around the worst affected areas? (Sorry, having a bad attack of the cynicals this morning.)

The policies of the Green/Labor coalition in Tasmania against burn-off and back burns look to be a far more proximate contributor to the Tasmanian bushfires than golbval warming.

Who knows Fleigs, who honestly knows...

Just got back from a running grass fire...(someone let BG know what that is)...and I feel that the Greens can't blame climate change for this one. T'was started by kids doing burnouts in their paddock!

Fliegs the IMF is the mob that the World's Best Treasurer gave 7 billion borrowed bucks to last year in order to bail out the mess they made in Europe.

Last Thusday's Australian ran a story aboutTasmanian farmers holding the Greens responsible for the intensity and destructiveness of the latest fires due to their blocking fuel reduction burn offs over the past few years.

Today's ABC news - someone from the Climate Change Commision claims the current heat wave is due to climate change and we must reduce CO2 production. Cue old bloke in Alice Springs saying "Nah. Was hotter in the 1950's drought". (A bit surprising that the ABC allowed an alternative view to climate change orthodoxy. Perhaps they are catchng up with mainstream opinion before the inevitable change of federal gummint. :E)

So stop voting for 'em. The Tassies never do that though.

Not to put a finer point on it but the word is that Craig Emerson has been very keen to continue a previous relationship.
Tim has been found wanting and the towering & masterful Craig is ready to extend his portfolio, again.

Worrals, with the crazy system that came with federation, Tasmania has so many senators and so few voters, it takes about three and a half votes to elect a senator.

Which might explain in part why the Greens have concentrated their efforts to enter the senate down there.

Worrals in the wilds 12th Jan 2013 11:31

For sure, but they've still got a state government.

In Julia I trust???

Any Local ALP Parliamentary Member, Faceless Sussex Street men, the apparatchiks, Labor Spin Doctors must be absolutely delighted with the response, comments from John & Jane Aussie to today's Julia's `Missive to the Masses'

At last count support for her and Labor may be running at just below 5% which in itself, is surprisingly high!

Worth a look at the Sun Herald, Daily Telegraph & Courier Mail; seems an election cannot happen soon enough.

The Tassie fires are proof (if we indeed need it!) that woolly-headed, latte-sipping, dope-smoking, inner-city Green policies will always be trumped by physics.
I hope to God that the same doesn't happen in the Victorian/NSW high country to prove the cattle grazers correct.
The Greens seem very quiet about it though, don't they?:hmm:

Worrals in the wilds 13th Jan 2013 03:13

They're probably still working out how to blame the victims, as they did with the Queensland floods. :yuk::yuk: We never did hear their opinion on the loss of habitat and impacts on vulnerable species'.
Coal miners to blame for Queensland floods, says Australian Greens leader Bob Brown | News.com.au

Clare Prop 13th Jan 2013 03:21

Did they factor the pollution from bush fires into their calculations about how much the carbon tax was going to reduce emissions and global temperatures?

They must have got it wrong because we were told that Julia had fixed the climate with a tax and she wouldn't lie to us, would she? Surely there will be no bush fires under a government she leads?

I'm thinking a water vapour tax will be her next thing, seeing as the pictures they show of horrid polluting chimneys are usually belching out...steam....:ugh:

Buster Hyman 13th Jan 2013 04:18

Got offered a position to go down & help in Tassie for this coming week. Unfortunately, I start back at work and, whilst that's not a problem, there were many willing to head down there & help out.

Pity, I would have liked to have seen how climate change fires look different to the one's that have crossed this landscape for millenia.

Julia's `Missive to the Masses'
I ploughed through that self-serving piece of rubbish.

Such commitment to the family! Yet Julia is a serial seducer of married men, invariably destroying the families she invades, leaving children in the last three cases without a father in the house.

Dear, sweet Julia.

Our PM's actions and utterances are consistent with her being a psychopath - devoid of real compassion, without a conscience or regret for past actions and utterly, utterly ruthless in the pursuit of her goal, which I believe is power, pure and simple. If her aim isn't personal power, then it's the imposition of a Fabian Socialist state in Australia, which is just as unattractive.

I wonder if she'll sit quietly in the back benches after thge next election, or whether she will retire into the arms of the sisterhood, to be feted and lauded as a game-changing leader in the Whitlam mould, wheeled out on important occasions and eventually writing a book of lies to justify her reign. I won't be buying it if she does.

The Greens seem very quiet about it though, don't they?
Far as I know no dope-smokin' drugged-up Taswegian greenie fought any fire
down there either.

There is a precedent - I recall the Lorne fires aftermath in Victoria yonks ago
where these useless parasitic bastards were threatened to be shot on sight
if they came within a bulls roar of the place - and of course not one stinking
greenie to be seen when these fires needed to be fought. The same with
Macedon years later.

And where's that arse-bandit green commie d!ckhead who played a large part
in creating Tassy to become the fire-hazard it is?

Jeez mate, couldn't you find any sharp objects to poke into your eyes instead?:E
Carefully crafted by the taxpayer funded of Sussex St spin doctors no doubt.:yuk:

Don't fret Slash he's probably on board one of the Sea Shepherd boats chasing Nips chasing whales.

With a real bit of luck they'll encounter huge waves which will wash him off the deck never to be seen again.

SOPS 13th Jan 2013 09:35

A Greenie could not go fire fighting, their sandals might melt:E
