Roxon is a moron, always has been and always will be.

And as for playing the gender card, well, that just shows
the level of her intelligence !

BTW, is she another of those Lesbian's like Wong ?

How can they link Jones to Abbott? They must be getting desperate.

Andu 1st Oct 2012 07:50

How can they link Jones to Abbott?
They don't have to. They (or, more to the point, McTernan and his team) are working on the proven and wildly successful "St Augustine theory", which goes something like this.

Augustine, (who many who know about such things say was one of the brightest men of his if not all time), heard the confession of a nobleman who confessed to spreading (untrue) scandal about another (a business and political rival). Augustine gave absolution and told him that his penance, (which for Catholics, must be completed before the sin is forgiven), he was to go out and spread the contents of a feather pillow through the streets of Rome and then come back to the confessional.

The man did so, and on his return, Augustine told him that to complete the penance, he must go back and collect all the feathers and put them back into the pillow. The nobleman told him that that would be impossible, and Augustine agreed, but said that, just like those loose feathers, it would also be impossible to take back completely those untruths he had spread about the other man.

This is McTernan's (and Gillard's) plan, a plan he - and she - knows will work, just as it did in more recent times for Dr Goebbels. Tell the lie (the bigger the better) often enough and it will be just like those feathers - some who hear the lie will believe it to be true, and tell others it is true. It doesn't matter if people who are politically aware know it to be untrue - enough who are not, but who are forced to vote by our crazy mandatory voting system, will have heard it and some will be swayed to vote against Tony AbbottAbbottAbbott.

Four boats arrived over the weekend, one with 195 pax on board. That 'risk' of being sent to Nauru looks pretty hollow already, with most of the newcomers being sent straight to Darwin "for operational reasons" (=everything offshore is overfull).

Is Jones not a shirtlifter like Brown?

Fliegenmong 1st Oct 2012 10:13

Jones is a shirtlifter like Brown..(cough cough or so we're told)....who cares doesn't matter!!!Doesn't matter at all......the Jones comment was a shot below the belt, you do not speak ill of the dead....however to have someone so unashamedly a mouthpiece of the right, the Libs are very happy for him to go in and bat for them.....But Oohh, just forget that last gaff..... really?

'Cmon...if you are soooo much better a people.....here's your chance to let us know.....but I reckon compliant mainstream media will ensure this is glossed over....can't be having negative Lib stories in the mainstream press.....that was never in the deal!!! Never will be!

And another thing I'm sick to death about the f*&king boats, they are nothing to me;....how many have been relocated next to your house??? None next mine....but cost of living is killing and I hear NOTHING....(I know I know, we can't tell you our policies, we must keep our powder dry etc etc...)..well here's an idea.....give us something to believe in! ..Just cos boats worked for the dog whistling attuned bogan mongs in howards day, it's not by default going to do it now....Abbott, you're a Rhodes scholar apparently....USE YOUR SUPPOSED BRAINS!....Or are you not dissimilar to the Labor people with no real world experience?....seems it sometimes....

RJM 1st Oct 2012 11:11

It strikes me that Labor knows that it will lose the next elerction, so it makes a lot of unrealistic, unfundable policy promises in the hope that the Libs will try to match them with equally unrealistic promises.

Then, once the Libs are in, Labor hsas a series of easy targets - the policy failures of the Libs unrealistic promises.

Abbott is doing the right thing calling the Libs' 'promises in return' 'aspirational' (for which he's being criticised by Labor).

The point is that Labor's set of unrealistic promises benefit Labor's attempts to win votes. They cannot benefit the electoraste because they are undeliverable.

The savvy observers are right. Labor has become nothing more than an election-winning machine, empty of policy. Enter McTernan.

Did anybody read the article on the Greens today in the Age ?

Brown had a serious swipe at the Lefties (which he can now do
since he isn't leader anymore).

The jist of what he said was if the Greens don't formulate some decent mainstream policies they will become irrelevant, as has occurred in NSW where the lefties still have serious control and as a result people / voters are leaving them.

And the threat of the major parties holding back preferences - which I think will still occur. They got a taste of that in Vic State election and did not like it one bit so are very very afraid of what might happen if it occurs across the board (my opinion).

Worth a read because it has been coming for a while.
The Greens' war within

I see there is a bit of floor crossing going on much to the annoyance of Ms Bishop, all going a bit pear shaped again, lucky they have the Jones distraction.
Just out of curiosity why would a possible next Prime Minister donate a signed pair of budgie smugglers, although we are talking about young Libs I suppose,

I16 1st Oct 2012 13:23

Budgie Smugglers

Jones and Molly would be able to chortle away about how slight they were.
Don't mind blokes & girls in the top jobs - but why is our great country attracting all these very strange people into the top jobs in the land?

Just out of curiosity why would a possible next Prime Minister donate a signed pair of budgie smugglers, although we are talking about young Libs I suppose,

No excuse at all h.i.d!

Not just this childish involvement with a pair of skimpy Speedos donated by Abbott the next possible Liberal PM.

Hark back to Worrals recent post on where our politicians come from. We're talking about the Crème de la crème of the Liberal leaders of the future here.

Sydney University Liberal Club. The very same incubator which spawned the wall punching Abbott, and his later punchee Hockey etc. This is the Liberals best and brightest being squarely caught out in their natural habitat. Poor penniless Sydney Uni students sniggering over their $100/plate dinner at Jones cheap shots.

Then compounding their view of what our future society would look like under the Liberals by praising
Jones vile remarks the following day: “brilliant speech by Alan Jones last night. No wonder he's the nation's most influential broadcaster!"

Their Liberal "values" are out there for all the world to see and judge.

Sven

As a relative newcomer to this thread, perhaps you can help me find the answer to a question that has been bothering me for a few years now.

"What has the current labor government done to warrant support?"

500N 1st Oct 2012 21:50

""What has the current labor government done to warrant support?""

Nothing that I can think of. And that includes Kevin Rudd's time
as PM as well.

allan907 2nd Oct 2012 00:22

Oh oh. McTernan's commandoes are back. :=

Clare Prop 2nd Oct 2012 01:19

The irony of McTernan being on a 457 visa when JG pretends to wage war against them and only let in unlimited unmbers of unskilled migrants is hilarious.

Alan Jones is just a shock jock, really does anyone take him seriously? He said something in very poor taste at a private function. He didn't say it on air and he's not a public servant. JGs endless lies are far more offensive.

And if you want to see a picture showing politicians getting touchyfeely how about this one showing a woman who loves to zero in on and have affairs with married men with kids. Which is one of the reasons most women hate her too. That is the absolute lowest form of womankind.

On 10th Sept, (see my post # 2569 on this thread), I asked:

So how long will we have to wait before we hear of the major fire that destroys half the tents on Nauru?
Reports on Sydney radio this morning that 10 Iraqi and Iranian "guests"(!) on Nauru rioted last night and damaged and slashed a number of tents after taking implements from the kitchen tent. Three of the ten have been arrested by Nauruan police

BUT

rest easy, everyone.

Nauru unrest won't hurt asylum-seekers' claims: Chris Bowen

THE claims of three asylum-seekers put in a police lock-up after a disturbance at Nauru's offshore processing facility won't be adversely affected, Immigration Minister Chris Bowen says.
Phew! For a moment there, I was afraid their human rights might have been grievously threatened by some nasty official telling them in no uncertain terms to put aside now any thoughts of ever being accepted into Australia after rioting and destroying Commonwealth property.

Tread careful there Clare Prop. I spends a bit of my time around truck drivers (thats the people who keep the country going) and the subjects AJ takes an interest in get much discusion around the truck stop cafe-ays.

I suspects many people are taking note of just who is offering up the most histerical critiqe of AJs gaff and will be wondering why it is some want the working mans 'voice' removed.

Still deserves to get his arse kicked for it...

IMO, unless the family is part of the government then they are out of bounds to public comment from the media. AJ has made his apoligy, done a bit of grovelling, hopefully learnt his lesson, now time to get back to-it.

What dont kills yer, makes yer stronger.

Have you heard anything about these comments though? I move in similarly exalted circles :} and AJ is usually popular enough, but a lot of people didn't like this stuff at all.
I've heard the phrase 'That's a bit off' quite a few times now.

It would seem that, as usual, in their rush to fling the dirt the ALP may well have unleashed a tiger that they cannot control.

It is now coming to light that one of the Labor luminaries has said something far far worse about Gillard's situation referring to her "ducking out" of her responsibilities as PM because of her father's death and that if she can't cope then she should move out!!

And that's on top of all the other vicious comments dished out by the ALP and their fan club which are now being recycled to show them up for the bunch of hypocrites that they are.

The Jones thing will turn out to be a storm in a teacup which will only hurt Jones - Labor's reaction will probably do wonders for the Coalition :}
