Broken internet...
No problem, just go online to troubleshoot.
Wait a minute, that won't work.
Ah well try the landline, also via router.
Never mind, get them on your cellphone
- not in deepest darkest Norfolk
Just as well it came back later without needing my help.

You make a salient point, everything hurtling towards a technical singularity and perhaps when all works a blessing, however Mr Murphy and his law still exist. When everything is over the internet and it experiences convulsions, things won't run smoothly for a while. I hope that the architects have buily in 'overflows' or side channels to alleviate issues.

Occasionally if the Internet goes down at home and after resetting etc still no luck I pop onto my Local Supermarkets and for the price of a coffee and get on the Web. And see of my provider has issues. If not just wait and it comes back eventually. Fortunately at the end of my road is the Virgin Media big box of tricks and if there is a VM engineer there it generally means they are working locally and that's probably why the webs down.

Oh for the days, when, if it didn't work, you hit it with a bigger hammer !

I'm in the telecomms business, and one of my Norfolk contacts is run off his feet in providing 4g/5g services in the area with dramatic results. High-speed downloads and not too much damage in terms of monthly rental.

If your BT internet goes down, you can telephone BT to report it - if you have a landline. BT being brilliant, the recorded message tells you to go to their website....When you get someone to talk to - which to give them their dues, doesn't take long - the only none UK person I've had in last year or so was in Dublin. The move to UK based staff for helplines is VAST improvement on using India.
