First I've heard of it IBM, but absolutely nothing surprises me what Comrade Dan might come up with in his "progressive" Labor party. Forwarding it on to some ex school teachers to see what they have to say.

I've shared it with some folks in Victoria too, incredulous replies have been the responses so far, nothing been seen nor heard in any mainstream media.
Mind boggling really if it's real, who could possibly think this a good idea.

Its why I didn't send my kids to government run schools. I did try but I realised that the outcome would be damaging to my kids. The response I got from the schools when I raised any issues was "We understand why you have a problem with this".

First thought … has anyone identified if the person filmed doing the speaking is an MP or MHR?

And notice how quiet the background is? I doubt if the rabble and their conduct that passes for a Parliament in any Australian State would be quiet during that speech.

And the Victorians although having the worst of the fools that get near government in Australia could not cook this garbage up as policy as applied to education.

Nup, I reckon it is false.

If you had any clue you would realise its an Upper House debate conducted in the evening, its not question time. Question time in the lower house is where the theatre of politics is to be found.

This was Bernie Finn, MP, in the Victorian Legislative Council a couple of days ago. Obviously a late night sitting or the Government members would have interjected, but Bernie has a chequered history in and out of Parliament.

As to the question in the OP about news coverage I have seen nothing this week, although I do browse the Melbourne newspapers. I got on well with him when he was working with 3AW, but that was many years ago.

I hope that the MP is the victim of a hoax to make him look silly

I've sent the video link to a large local newspaper newsdesk, maybe they'll do some checking and report on it.

For some context the politician is Bernie Finn, probably the most far right politician in Victoria. Believes rape victims shouldn’t be allowed to have abortions, and a spreader of US January 6th conspiracy theories. So we’re not exactly talking about someone who is known to check facts.

He says a photo of the homework assignment was included but fails to show it.

He fails to name to school.

He fails to name the constituent.

Several days later he hasn’t produced photo evidence of this “worksheet”.

If it were real by this stage multiple parents would have seen the work sheet, all they have to do is share pictures on social media and it would be viral in a matter of minutes. They haven’t.

The allegations were made several days ago they’ve only been shared by far right media like Rebel News. The more “mainstream” right wing news in Melbourne, the Herald Sun newspaper and radio 3AW, have avoided it. Usually they’re onto these “PC madness in schools!” stories very quickly and put them on the front page, the fact they haven’t us a good indicator this is a hoax shared by only the most gullible idiots.

However as an aside I did find this actual information on the sexual education curriculum for Victorian schools.

Sexuality education for Victorian primary schools

There is information regarding puberty, and topics discussed in sexuality education in late primary school like mentioned by that ranter in that video above. This is standard curricula taught everywhere. There’s also this statement in the intro:

The most valuable learning about sexuality comes from the home. Families are in the
best position to teach their children values and attitudes towards sexuality. Although most parents want to be the primary educators about sexuality for their children, many express concern about saying the wrong thing and doing long-lasting damage to their child’s healthy sexual development. When families talk openly with children about sex and sexuality, it contributes to greater openness about sex and sexuality and improved sexual health among young people.

I doubt whether 10 year old girls were asked to go home and talk to their dads about their personal masturbating and erections. What probably happened was some student work regarding puberty and body changes were seen by nervous parents, the parents got outraged and ranted to this gullible politician assuming the kids were told to ask them the “erotic” implications of what they were being taught.

Positive science based discussions about sexuality should be encouraged at this age, it isn’t “child abuse”, “child molestation” or whatever. You can seperate the “erotic” aspects and concentrate on the “biological”.

Bernie Finn is insane. He presents as much evidence as he has for all the other lunatic claims he makes.

You’ll find most of these “moral panic” stories are wildly exaggerated. Sometimes you need to step back and have a good think.

This isn’t the first time this politician has made wild and false claims about sex education in schools without providing any evidence:

Liberal MP slammed over claims anal sex taught in schools

Claims by a Victorian Liberal MP that primary schools are teaching children anal sex and accessing porn are disgraceful and offensive, the state government says.

Conservative western suburbs MP Bernie Finn's Facebook post, which also alleged young children were being taught how to use condoms, is completely untrue, according to the Education Minister James Merlino.

You'll also find that this type of story is uaually spread by the Murdoch gutter rags such as the Dasily Smellograph in Sydney and teh Herald sun in Sydney. Other mastheads in other stated, but all so low they have to reach up to touch rock bottom.

Children in high schools are, quite sensibly, taught how to use condoms and other sexual health subjects. Many years ago my daughter's class was taught by a local nurse/midwife. When she produced a rounded wooden cylinder and announced that she'd use it to put on a condom, a teenage male voice at the back said "A shoehorn works better." Collapse of class and teacher.

And now he's at it again.

"Victoria’s minister for women, Gabrielle Williams, has described a Facebook post by Liberal MP Bernie Finn as “deplorable” after he wrote that he was “praying” for abortion to be banned in Australia.

The post was published on the upper house MP’s Facebook page on Wednesday night, after the leak of a draft decision showing a majority of US supreme court justices may overturn Roe v Wade, which makes abortion a constitutional right.
“So excited the US is on the verge of a major breakthrough to civilisation. Praying it will come here soon. Killing babies is criminal,” Finn said in the post.

When a woman, who commented she didn’t support abortion but believed there should be an option for victims of sexual assault, Finn replied: “Babies should not be killed for the crime of his or her parent.”"
