Got to congratulate the Beeb for showing the early rounds of the Men's 500M short track speed skating this morning then switching from BBC2 to BBC1 for coverage of the final, but up here in Scotland we have a live football match on 1 instead, and a womens football match on 2. If they had cut out all the pre match pontificating, they could easily shown the skating final. Twats!

Just seen both biathlon pursuits on catch up TV

Women's very much as expected, really was a procession. Men's was much better, what happened to JT? Seemed as though he lost confidence having missed 2 in shoot 2 when the wind wasn't that bad for him, standing shoot was much more challenging but his shooting really deserted him. I recall he's got previous with fading away due to poor shoot on big occasions. Fillon Maillet and Latyapov were excellent though.

I really do thing that as a spectator sport the biathlon and mass start events are so exciting, more so that many track and field events in the summer games.

Today's was pursuit based on sprint results, first man across the line wins. Agree biathlon can be nerve wrecking, particularly the shooting of course. The younger Bøe didn't have the wind, or his nerves on his side today. Had he waited 8-10 seconds before he started shooting, well? The Frenchman was getting close and he lost his nerve. Three punishment rounds were at least two too many.
Good fun, and the French deserved the Gold!

You were right, but the wind and some rather curious decisions by the management team didn't make for a very fair competition.

They were only fighting for bronze anyway.

Mixed emotions watching GB vs Japan in the ladies' curling. Strong Scottish accents versus strong Hokkaido and northern Japan accents. Wonderful stuff.

Should have been bronze as well, but the leader by 44 seconds after the ski jump, Norwegian Riiber, took the wrong lane, had to turn around and lost 30 seconds. 😕

more athletes should speak up. Not only about Beijing 2022 but also about Qatar for instance.

If she was doped, and they say that this drug wouldn’t have improved her performance other than keeping her more alert, isn’t this a failure on Russia’s part, given that they have a long history of doping and knowing how to beat drug tests?

She has been brilliant on the ice, far beyond what drugs /doping could accomplish.
Hmm - don't the IOC set the age limit for entry? If they think she is old enough to compete, surely they think she is old enough to be in control of her preparations and deal with any consequences of competing?

It was "chilling" to see the "cold" way distraught Kamila Valieva was treated by her Russian coach after falls in her figure skating routine at Beijing 2022, says International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach.

Going off topic for a moment, Ancient Mariners posts have icons in them with flags and medals. I get these on my ipad but just get an empty square on my PC. Anyone know how I sort this to get the icons on my PC?

Just spent 3 hours watching the women's curling semi final. Gripping stuff. Good luck to both the Scottish Great Britain teams in the curling finals.

Norway is certainly taking home an impressive haul of medals. I am glad to see that New Zealand has garnered two golds.

Ah, but only four more years before curling is at the fore again!
