Yes - currently global aviation only produces about 2% of all human-induced CO2 emissions. But the figure would be a lot higher if many more people start flying around in private jets like Harry.

Total UK annual CO2 emissions per capita are only about 5 tons.

Obviously Harry wasn't the only person on the G550 - but when he's probably personally responsible 2-3 tons for a weekend jaunt - whatever he's telling his nan's subjects to do in order to protect the planet - stinks of hypocrisy.

It is odd that the hacks are not frothing at the mouth so much over his brother despite having similar views and lifestyle. I wonder why that is?

Sadly it's not just Harry or his brother. While there are some notable exceptions, most of the 'elites' that keep lecturing us on our carbon footprints don't practice anything they preach, and have carbon footprints orders of magnitude larger than the average US (or UK) citizen.
The so-called "Climate Czars" are among the worst offenders. Our own John Kerry (Biden's Climate Czar) regularly jets around in his wife's private jet while he lectures us about getting electric cars.

I think you have got it all wrong.

The flight was probably going that way anyway, so Harry just hitched a lift.

Therefore, his CO2 footprint was zero.

I'm sure he thinks that...

Mr Mac, I wasn't suggesting you There are quite a few politicians and famous people who say one thing but definitely do the other.
I had no idea about your travel details.

I prefer to turn left as well. I fly a business jet for work. Aviation is not really the root cause of global warming. (as we know)

It is very common to hear “we must…..”, but very rare to hear “I will …….” when it comes to climate change.

Why do none of these people appear to make the obvious connection between increased population and increased CO2 emissions?

Who is this "Harry" fellow? What movies did he star in? Or is he one of those "Rap" artists?

You can't go around making assertions like that! People will be triggered upset... True though...

Cows get most of the blame for methane, but humans are not innocent.

Hypocrisy doesn’t stop at climate change. There seems to be exceptions for every rule - depending on who you are.

After all, what can be more important than “to carry out designated professional work" such as promoting a film, raising one’s profile and potentially earning a few more million dollars?

Especially vegan humans - they could give a small SUV a run for it's money on global warming emissions

Just thank your lucky stars I didn't buy sprouts yesterday - only because my local little Marks doesn't have any at present...

What, so Greta should give up sprouts in order to avoid hypocrisy?

Did you ever know a child eat sprouts?

(I did but for some reason there is a family myth still being perpetuated that I don't like sprouts. )

I see the co-founder of XR apparently drives her brood around in a diesel-engined car as she can't afford an electric one...

While I agreee that the hypocrisy is hard to ignore, presumably Harry offsets his CO2 footprint? It would be far wiser, imho, if Harry used his soundbox to promote carbon offset schemes, and not just unquantifiable tree planting projects, but rather the emergent direct air carbon capture market. Expecting everyone to suddenly change their lifelong habits is naive, but carbon offsetting - if done properly - has great potential to achieve a real world CO2 reduction. And aviation certainly has its own part to play in this.

Maybe I'm weird, but I love sprouts and have done so since childhood. Runner beans as well. What I can't explain is whenever I read stories or opinions about the royal family I can't help thinking about vegetables.

The 2021 award for thread drift seems to be in the bag.

I was over in Ireland a few years ago and went to a staff Christmas party which was naturally held in a pub. As the food was being served, a colleague had to take a phone call so by the time he returned, the only remaining veg was a bowl of sprouts. He scoffed the lot and then made a major scientific discovery. Sprouts + 6 pints of Guinness = Plenty of C2H6 + H2S + CO2. It appeared that Uri Geller was not the only chap capable of stopping clocks and bending spoons. It also came in handy for clearing a path to the bar.

Sprouts are known as "The Devil's Vegetable" for a very good reason.
