U.K. Transport Secretary

The U.K. Transport Secretary has a PPL.
As the U.K. travel industry is now on its knees, under his watch, this should be a place where we can pass on our thoughts about his performance so far.

Absolutely abysmal pretty much sums it up. If itís not eco-friendly transport he seems to be happy to throw it, and all the jobs that go with it, under a bus.

Vote of no confidence in Grant Shapps

The above link is for a recently launched petition for what itís worth.

This would be the man who registered his own aeroplane in the US to avoid the cost and bureaucracy of his own department!?

Thereís thousands of British pilots that have been furloughed, made redundant, placed on part time contracts. Thereís still many that have not found work since losing their jobs with TC, Monarch etcÖ.
And yet, the DofT/ CAA have decided to allow non U.K. EASA licence holders, to apply for a U.K. licence. This despite not getting an reciprocal arrangement with the EU.
Why would the CAA allow EU pilots to gain access to U.K. jobs when so many of our own are now in low paid employment?
Another Brexit win.

Boris Johnson has always been against expansion at Heathrow. What better way to achieve it than cripple the British airline industry and destroy the demand for air travel negating any need for airport expansion. Another benefit would be by reducing the size of Britain’s commercial aircraft fleet would be a reduction in this countries CO2 emissions helping with the government’s 2050 carbon neutral target.

Hilarious! By how much would cutting UK flights effect global CO2 emissions? A clue, its less tham 0.1%.
It would hardly make a mark on the UK's target.
To suggest that this government is capable or even wanted to deliberately cripple a successful aviation industry in the UK is nonsense.

I'm sorry boys and girls, as much as I would like to chuck most Politicians under a bus, we can't make a fall guys out of Shapps or Hancock. They do not decide alone and are lead mostly by some very clever people who get the bigger picture in a way we don't want to due to our biases.
Assuming that that was written with serious intent, could you offer any specific individuals or groups which fall into the latter category ?
If you feel that Shapps and Hancock don't bear responsibility for the departments which they head, who would you suggest IS responsible ?
I fully appreciate that neither of them, like the vast majority of such position holders, will accept blame or responsibility, even when it is demonstrably down to their own incompetence ( they have the example of their 'Leader' to follow), but postulating the presence of some higher intelligence 'background influencer' lacks both credence, and, more importantly, evidence !

One way, which would certainly delay such a scheme and (for once) fulfil a promise !!!) would be for the Buffoon to prostrate himself in front of the bulldozer, as promised.
Sadly, that was yet another lie !
