Angel Thought of the day

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will always long to return.

And your relationship with your bank manager will never be the same again.

I had a picture of Leonardo, with that quote, on my office wall for years.

If anyone is travelling through France and wants an interesting place to visit then I can recommend the house where Leonardo died: https://www.vinci-closluce.com/en/

We've been there twice, and it really is an amazing place, with re-creations of some of his inventions scattered around the grounds, and lots of models of them in the basement. I spent an hour or so there last time helping a group of children understand the principles of Leonardo's helicopter. This big model in the grounds is designed so that children can spin it and lift themselves off the ground, really great fun:

Could have thought that today as on my stroll up to Hastings castle some lucky person was flying a biplane around. A clear blue sky above an azure and silver sea, perfect.
I regret getting rid of my fishing gear as the mackerel are chasing the whitebait.

The small science museum in Florence has a lot Galileo's beautifully crafted telescopes and other instruments.

One of the best things I ever did was to accompany someone on their first flight (it was my mother, aged about 65 at the time).
She was having none of it, but as it was all paid for she "couldn't let it go to waste."
It was a quick extended weekend trip to Florence, and I finally persuaded her to swap seats with me so she could look out, just in time to see the snowy Alps from above, nose glued to the window, all fear gone. Although she loved Florence I think the highlights for her, despite her initial fears were the flights. She flew again and my only regret is that I didn't have the means to treat her to a Concord trip, which she described as a beautiful machine.

Maybe this is the place to post this. Flying 1,000' above the Indian Ocean yesterday. I love that the wing has taken on the colour of the ocean and the sky.

Red kite overhead my house this morning, first I've seen in the SE London suburbs. Beautiful sight soaring the breeze against a gorgeous sky. Stick around birds...

Very much the feelings of my late grandmother, who was born before the car was invented, and lived to fly in jets. She loved to fly, even if only as a passenger. She would be very proud of her Great Granddaughter, who is currently training for multi-engine endorsement on her PPL.

Thank you.

I really had no idea. Shame on me. I knew the first one was modest. X3, but a jump to X20, an astonishing achievement.

A lot of reading due.

In my novel, the protagonist, in a vessel 1.6 light-seconds from Earth, exclaims, Galileo's letters!!! It's a very significant line and one of the clues I left for folk to question. No one did. They were the letters to his daughter, who happened to have taken the name, Maria Celeste. Her letter to her father have been published, his never found. Probably destroyed by the convent because of Galileo's implied lack of faith.

Aliens land on Earth, and say "Take me to your leader."

They take them to Forrest Trump.

Alien makes a note: "Earthlings will never be a problem to us. Unless they run out of hairspray."
